    I haven’t read all of this story yet (it’s still a little early here in DC) but at first glance I have to comment.

    This is exactly what I mean about this guy Obama. His loyalties are not with the US in the way a politician should be. A picture is worth a thousand words. When I say he strikes me as a manchurian candidate it’s for these reason. Then on the other side of the coin he talks a real good talk.

    For those who have common sense and intelligence we understand talking is not how to do a job. His record is abysmal; at least what is there. His experience is short.

    Infatuation is fine for rock stars but for president of the U.S. it’s a serious job and it requires serious thought.

    I heard a radio interview with a retired Marine Lt. Colonel who was a POW with McCain at the Hanoi Hilton.

    After listening to what he had to say, I know McCain has at least 4 things:

    1. Honor.
    2. Integrity
    3. Character
    4. Pride in America

    We know HilLiary has none of the above. Obama has not had the opportunity to show us any of 1-3; (we know he does not have #4).

    Ok, couple things here. First, Robert, I am a law student but thats irrelevant. I only said that in response to Pam’s comment that I was not smart enough to be a teacher, and that its bc of people like me that we have home schooling and vouchers. I did say that to be snooty, bc I am certainly not. So, you can take your $2 cup of Denny’s coffee and put it where your mouth is. Does that ‘explain alot’ for you? Pam and I are actually having a meaningful discussion on what we think it means to be American. See below and take note.

    Pam, the clause you have copied is the 14th amendment which is about due process. It has nothing to do with defining what it means to be American. Yes, it defines what you have to do in order to be a legal citizen, but does not in any way shape or form address what it is to be ‘American’ in the context that its being used in this blog and throughout this election. But if you want to use that as a definition, your argument still fails bc if Obama were not American he couldnt even run for President.

    and ps- in case no one knew, the name “Hussein” is as common an Arabic name as is Smith or Jones in the English language. Many people have it, including Sadaam and Obama. That should in no way in anyone’s mind mean that they are the same person, or that they share the same beliefs. Sadaam was a tyrant, a murderer, and anti-democratic and hated the US. A large portion of Obama’s campaign is based on just the opposite: finding ways to do things peacefully by talking, negotiating, and without war and without putting more Americans on the front line so that parents back home dont have to continue to mourn the loss of their children who died HONORABLY, but in a war that we should have never begun.

You have very little in the way of life experiences to be shooting your mouth off about things to people here who know things you aren’t even aware of (actually, you may have more real-life experience than Obama has executive experience).

    So your lectures, filled with rhetoric, are laughable. You are the perfect Obama supporter: Filled with idealism and hope and the certainty that you know better than any generation that has gone before you.

    I am here to tell you that you don’t, and just like I tell my sons, someday you’ll understand what that means. When you are much older, much wiser, much more traveled and experienced. And when you reach that point you’ll perhaps look back on your Obamamania and wonder how you could have been so foolish. Because that’s what it really is.

    Few of us here if any are McCainiacs. I support McCain only because Obama is unfit to be POTUS, on so many levels. And once again we are faced with the choice of two weak candidates, imo.

    To use one of your own phrases: grow up! Grow up, Jackie, then you’ll understand. Hopefully…

    I’ll tell you what I think an American is: Someone who supports and promotes traditional American values and ideals. Someone who takes seriously the Pledge of Allegiance, and who accepts and fulfills their sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. An American knows that America is the greatest nation in the history of earth, that America has done more good for more people than any other nation in history, and that America is the greatest hope for freedom and liberty on earth. Americans know this, and regardless of their origin, understand it, believe it, and will serve to protect and defend it.

    THAT’s what an American is, imo…a real American.

    Robert, I may be younger than you, but Im not a kid. Im 26 years old, and though I have not “been out there in the real world”, I certainly havent had life handed to me on a platter either. What I do know is that Im living life right now paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to school, thankful that the govt is partially paying for it, but without a job and knowing full well Ill have to pay it all back one day. I pay rent and living expenses used from money I have saved in the two years i took off after college before coming here. I do not get help from mommy and daddy. I dont have kids or family that is dependent on me, but I work my ass off just as much as the next guy out there. So dont write off what i say just because I was born in the 80s. Im actually not an idealist, Im a realist. But Im a hopeful realist, and my one hope is that Obama’s presidency will put the US in a position where we one day wont have to worry about being attacked by terrorists or fighting wars that we dont belong in. I do NOT want to raise my kids 10 yrs from now in WW3, and im sure you dont want to see your sons or future grandsons going off to fight more wars. But I truly feel like this is the direction we are heading in if we dont do something to change.

The way its used in this blog has nothing to do with citizenship as defined by the Const., it has to do with political issues, beliefs and positions.     We also know that he was adopted by his step-father, which ads to the problem.

    Jackie, fair enough, you are not a kid. And I respect anyone for working hard to pay their way through school. I did it at at age 32; I worked three part time jobs to pay for it.

    Here’s what I don’t like about Obama and his agenda as concisely as I can list it:

    1. I just don’t trust him. He could NEVER get a TS security clearance if he applied for one. How can we possibly trust him with our most vital national security secrets? Why does he bob and weave, dodge, and hide his background, only revealing what he wants us to see but denying or burying anything else? You are old enough to understand that the way to judge a person’s character if you don’t know them well is not by their words, but by their deeds (including associations). Obama hangs with some of the most vile vermin in our society. Does that not trouble you?

    2. While the current financial crisis is a big problem, and a rather unique one due to the housing meltdown and subprime debacle, there are fundamental, core issues that are being temporarily forgotten but have not gone away. The most fundamental of those is energy. Obama mouths all the rhetoric about clean renewable energy and alternates and all this wonderful stuff that doesn’t exist in the scale needed to make a difference. As I have posted volumes about here, ANY national energy plan that does not include 80% Nuclear generated power as its core is unworkable, stupid, and unrealistic. Obama has recently began mouthing the word nuclear, as has Nancy Pelosi (because of extreme pressure), but they don’t mean it. Obama should be smart enough to know better, but he is hopelessly entwined in the idiotic democrat leadership refusal to be realistic that has paralyzed this nation’s ability to move forward while bankrupting us.
    I’d much rather have Sarah Palin write an energy plan than either Obama or McCain, frankly. She gets it, she understands what we need to do. None of the rest will accept it fully.

    3. Taxes. One of the few things that has kept this country above water and able to grow the economy despite a recession starting in 2000, 9/11, and the war have been the tax cuts. It is a truth that is simple, elegant, and has been proven over and over again: You tax business too much, and it diminishes, It either moves away or shuts down. And the “rich” are already paying their fair share of taxes, which is the vast majority of the income tax. Obama taps into the politics of class envy and jealousy with his tax the rich crap. Kalifornia is a near textbook example of a once-great state run by a Democrat-controlled legislature for 40 years. They are doing their best to kill the Golden goose.

    4. Obama is not only a Socialist, he is a Marxist. I simply cannot stand the idea of a Socialist/Marxist in the White House; that is patently un-American. The Founding Fathers will spin in their graves. Do a little research on Obama. You won’t get it from the MSM, but Pam has posted much of it here and there are plenty of references to back it up. Obama is a product of the radical marxist Saul Alinsky. Another reason not to trust Obama.

    And btw, Sarah Palin rocks! Setting women’s efforts back? Huh? How about the blatant sexism of all the intellectual Liberals who have tried to trivialize her by making stupid remarks like Alec Baldwin on SNL “You’re way hotter in person”, calling her a MILF, and photoshopping her head onto bikini models. What they are doing is part of their belittling and trivializing strategy: belittle her accomplishments, make up lies and distortions about her record, then trivialize her by implying the reason why people like her is she’s physically attractive. I’m offended by that! And you should be too if you care at all about women’s rights and future! And yet all this is being done by the self-anointed tolerance, women’s rights champions crowd. You see the utter, glaring, naked hypocrisy? See it?
