Maher has a new movie coming out that is based on the premise that all religion is bad. Is the following statement true or false?

“If there weren’t religion, there wouldn’t be war.”

    17th century philosopher Thomas Hobbes said that man, in the original “state of nature” (without any government and religions to guide them) had a life that was “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” and saw man in a constant state of war.

    So my guess is Hobbes would disagree with Maher.

    SFL thinks there would be war no matter what.

    That said, I think religion is a waste of time for humanity, causes too many problems and should be done away with as soon as possible.

    The belief in God/Gods, Allah, Christ, reincarnation, animism, etc – in my opinion – is equally as silly and baseless as the belief in Santa Claus.

    Maher is a total idiot, a pathetic boffoon. While of course Religion has prompted many wars, war was around long, long before religion.

    The first war happened when a group of cavemen noticed that another group of cavemen had a better cave. Not hard to figure this out.

    But when you are an idiot, and what little common sense and knowledge you have is deeply compromised by your political agenda, you are prone to opening your mouth and making idiot pronouncements (like Bill Maher).
