UPDATED WITH THE VOTE…As If The Gas Prices Aren’t High Enough, the Democratic budget they’ll be voting for would allow income tax rates to go up on individuals making as little as $31,850 and couples earning $63,700 or more.

Congress Endorses Post-Bush Tax Hikes

When you drive up to the gas station, thank the Democrats for those increased prices. I warned you that we would pay the price and we are. Now comes word that this vote is so important, Clinton, McCain and Obama are actually going to return to their day job in order to vote on this:

Votes on tax cuts and on a one-year ban on pet projects topped the Senate’s agenda before an expected late-night vote Thursday to pass a $3 trillion Democratic budget blueprint. The nonbinding plan predicts a balanced budget in four years and promises generous increases for many domestic programs, but achieves those goals only by assuming major tax increases when President Bush’s tax cuts expire in about three years.

Obama, D-Ill., and Clinton, D-N.Y., both promise to reverse Bush’s tax cuts for wealthier taxpayers, but the Democratic budget they’ll be voting for would allow income tax rates to go up on individuals making as little as $31,850 and couples earning $63,700 or more.

Opponents of “pork barrel” projects expected to lose a vote to ban such earmarks for a year, despite the endorsement of all three presidential candidates.

Across the Capitol, the House was to vote on a companion Democratic measure predicting larger surpluses while allowing $683 billion worth of tax increases over five years with the expiration of Bush’s tax cuts.

Newsflash..surpluses are over-taxation. Peoples paychecks will only stetch so far..the increased gas and food prices are already being felt, can you imagine what it will feel like when your check is smaller?

Former Army Officer made this point: “all of the legislation that is causing inflation, long lines at the pumps and outrageous heating bills is. And truth be told, Dems have never found a tax that they didn’t like. BTW has everyone heard about the new WORLD POVERTY elimination bill that Obama has sponsored, funding for which is expected to be in the form of a fuel tax.”

    1. “When you drive up to the gas station, thank the Democrats for those increased prices.”

Sure I will, but what about the 100% increase in prices that occurred before the Dems were in charge, while Bush and the Republicans controlled Congress?

I’ll make sure to thank them also.

Otherwise I agree with the article, but let’s not place the only blame on the Dems for the recession we are about to see.

    2. But…but..but I thought the democrites only wanted to tax the RICH!!! :o

Maybe this old joke explains it:

      Q. What is rich in Arkansas?
      A. When you actually own your trailer.

      Q. What is super rich?
      A. When you actualy own your trailer, and your pickup truck is paid for!

Anybod who has two nickels of their own to rub together that they actually earned through work should be taxed, according to the Democrites. They are rich elitist pricks and hypocrites who demagogue taxing the “rich” while making maximal use of tax avoidance schemes themselves.

    3. Robert, punish those that do, so that we can increase the funds to those that don’t..and have no intention of ever doing…

    6. I can vouch for the fact that the dems only SAY they’re going to tax the rich but the reality is their taxes keep the working class down. Always have, always will.

I figure that if the dems are in charge long enough people will start seeing only about 25% or less of their paychecks. No kidding when I say this. When I argue how unfair that is they tell me that at least there will be programs available for food and other types of assistance.

    11. Ted, those price increases were caused by the liberal left as well. It wasn’t the conservative Republicans blocking drilling in Anwar, off the coasts of Florida or Ca, or in the gulf of Mexico. That was the Dems. It wasn’t the Conservative Republicans who have filed frivolous lawsuit after frivolous lawsuit to prevent the building of new refineries or nuclear powerplants.

The problem is not that we’re not conserving energy, it’s that we are not producing enough to meet the ever growing demand. When you have 10,000,000 more cars on the road, it doesn’t matter if they’re more fuel efficient. There are simply more of them burning fuel. When the refineries in Louisiana went down after Katrina, prices rose because there simply wasn’t enough refining capacity to cover the shortfall. We haven’t built a refinery or nuclear powerplant in over 30 years. How are fuel supplies supposed to keep up with demand? Want to cut into the Oil Companies’ profits? Simply allow them to explore for oil. Oil exploration and development is expensive and frequently doesn’t pay any returns. Instead the Dems rip off the companies that provide a product and use the proceeds to reward the leeches who feed on society without providing anything to it.
