I will post the transcript as soon as it becomes available. Here it is
It’s whitey’s fault..That’s as much as I could get from the speech and then my cat threw up so I had to tend to that!(Yes, that is true) Here are some other reactions:
The speech gives the impression — in several places — that Wright’s controversial comments occurred in recent weeks. Presumably Obama has to give that impression because to address them head on and honestly would open him up to a deeper conversation not conducive to soundbites and elections. (Why is Wright and UCC so mad? And why am I O.K. with that?) He’s also doing it because he’s eager to obscure the fact that he had ample reason to know what Wright is all about — and that he continued to provide significant financial support to Wright’s church.
Obama claims that he “strongly disagree[d] with many of [Wright's] political views” that he heard “while I sat in church”? This invites the question what, if anything, he did to express his strong disagreement. Did he cut back contributions? Or did he just have the audacity to hope Wright would hush up and burn the tapes before long?
Initial reaction:
** “Trinity embodies the black community in its entirety”- Frightening.
** “As imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me”- G-Damn right!
** “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community”- You’re done.
** “These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America”- That’s G-damned America, thank you.
** Man cannot live on bread alone- add mustard and relish.
“I am not a bigot.”
“I did not have spiritual relations with that pastor.”
“It was a botched sermon.”
“I have a nightmare … “
This still doesn’t begin to answer why it’s somehow excusable for a pastor to spew demagoguery and outright lies from the pulpit. You want healing? Begin with the truth
Who was it that yesterday called Obama’s church the, “First Chicago Church of Blame Whitey and Damn America”? That’s a keeper.

From the transcript of the speech:
“Did I (Obama) ever hear him (Wright) make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes.”
Doesn’t this directly contradict what was said before? In the interview with Major garret on Fox, didn’t he say he never heard these contraversial remarks while in church?
March 18, 2008 - 10:00 AM on March 18th, 2008
Why yes, he did…here is the quote from the interview:
“None of these statements were ones that I had heard myself personally in the pews. One of them I had heard about after I had started running for president, and I put out a statement at that time condemning them”

Ladies and gents, Barack Obama is a liar and here is the undistpuatble evidence.
March 18, 2008 - 10:03 AM on March 18th, 2008
undistpuatble
Stupid is as stupid does
March 18, 2008 - 10:16 AM on March 18th, 2008
Nice catch Ted!
March 18, 2008 - 10:27 AM on March 18th, 2008
This is what people mean when saying Obama isn’t experienced enough. In politics, lying to the public is an art form. You have to be vague in your statements so that when cornered you have wiggle room. That way, the logical are forced to give you the benefit of the doubt and the rest who are complacent just doesn’t care.
March 18, 2008 - 12:09 PM on March 18th, 2008
From Barry Hussein Obama-Winfrey’s speech (with clarifying additions in brackets):
“… [Wright] for over thirty years led a church that serves the community by doing God’s work here on Earth – by housing the [BLACK] homeless, ministering to the [BLACK] needy, providing day care services and scholarships and prison ministries [to BLACKS], and reaching out to those [BLACKS] suffering from HIV/AIDS.”
Because, after all, “Rev.” Wright is all about racial bigotry against whites.
Ted: so true. Obama just isn’t experienced enough to cover himself with lies well, but, OTOH, he is a remarkably talented and audaciously silver-tongued liar. Give him some time. Why, in no time at all, I expect him to pass muster with the 90% of the electorate whose BS meters have been clogged to nonfunctionality by listening too much to politicians *spit*, Hollyweird celebrities and the Mass Media Podpeople Hivemind.
From my own post on this (spurred, to be honest, in part by Ted’s comments):
Now we… know what Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” is really about: the audacity of lies, bigotry and arational emotional appeals.
And this speech. *sigh* Finally, Obama unequivocally playing the race card, implicitly making himself the “affirmative action” candidate he swears he is not.
Obama, take a listen: the outcry against the bigotry of your pastor, against his damning of America in broad strokes, against his blanket condemnations of whitey and imagined widespread oppression of blacks by whites in America is the point. It is his racist bigotry and your bland acceptance of it that is the point.
Still, it’s a Very Good Thing for Obama’s “mystery man” mystique to finally begin having the fog lift. An Obama presidency would trouble me even more than a Hildebeast presidency. Imagine: she’d have to work against the ingrained animosity so many in Congress still have toward her and her “husband” (so called). Obama would be able–as he has done here–to pressure with the race card whenever he wanted to press for passing of his agenda, making passage of his agenda that would take the speed brakes off American decline much more likely.
A Barry Hussein Obama-Winfrey *gag* vs. Juan Mexicain *spit* contest would be just the thing to compel me to gin up some fake enthusiasm for Juan Mexicain.
*sigh* Has it come to that? Thankfully, not yet.
March 18, 2008 - 01:33 PM on March 18th, 2008
Well if words are just words, then why all the hate speech crap? Why was Imus fired? Why is any Republican who makes a joke at a private function that can be twisted into a slur is pounced on by the PC jackals?
Once again, it is the Liberal/Leftist/democrite double-standards at work.
March 18, 2008 - 01:38 PM on March 18th, 2008
#6 I absolutely agree. Obama has a very long way to go to become an accomplished politican, starting with mastering the art of lying. There have been many good ones, some more outrageous than others. I doubt any have been more prolific than BJ Klinton. The Klintons lie even when it doesn’t matter, when there is no reason. I used to wonder why but came to the conclusion they do it just to stay in practice, to keep their skills sharp.
March 18, 2008 - 07:13 PM on March 18th, 2008
Well, deep subject and still waters run deep. All of this hatred of America, the Jews, and any thing that moves - is a bottomless pit. However the good that will come of this, I hope, is we Americans will value our country more and protect it from this kind of evil talk. This will help us see how God reveals the truth that sets us free and apart from all the other third world countries. I am grateful for this to have come to the surface, showing how easy people can have such cunning deceit. We need to security check people applying for the job as President and First Lady, because we really didn’t know this Obama character and should have looked into things more carefully. At least now we know, before it’s too late, otherwise America would have had egg on her pretty face, from all those chickens, Ha Ha! Looks like to me with Ole Wright, Obama, Michelle, & friends ??? it’s the pot calling the kettle white, ex- c-use me, black. Also why take Oprah’s opinion as the gospel and don’t be so quick to buy the books she recommends, “The Audacity of Hope” sounds like it’s off in left field. Let’s ‘hope’ Oprah isn’t the last word on everything, give me a break.
March 18, 2008 - 07:14 PM on March 18th, 2008
It’s looking like he might wiggle his way out of this one…
Reaction to The Speech, present company excluded, has been surprisingly positive.
March 18, 2008 - 07:25 PM on March 18th, 2008
SFL, you are such a hypocrite
March 18, 2008 - 07:26 PM on March 18th, 2008
How so?!
March 18, 2008 - 07:44 PM on March 18th, 2008
16- maybe in your limited circle, but you might want to take a reality check on that!
CBS Poll: Pastor’s Remarks Hurt Obama
Currently, CBS has this question up: Will Barack Obama’s relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright be a lingering issue for him?
Yes:
60.72%
No:
39.28%
March 18, 2008 - 08:00 PM on March 18th, 2008
16.
Not according to Rasmussen yesterday. His favorabilty slipped 5%. Most voters, 56%, said Wright’s comments made them less likely to vote for Obama.

Also SFL, if the blogs/media starts hammering on the lie he told that I outlined in post #2 & #3 expect that to free fall a bit more.
March 18, 2008 - 08:05 PM on March 18th, 2008
I’m not talking about all these little righty bloggers Pam, I’m saying that from the looks of the way the Real Media, the MSM, is reporting on The Speech and what’s being said about it has so far been surprisingly positive.
Sen. Biden said; “He told the story of America — both the good and the bad — and I believe his speech will come to represent an important step forward in race relations in our country,”
Even H. Clinton praised it.
I think most Democrats, especially the young ones, can easily see through a simple minded tactic like this “Racial Fear” one we are seeing play out against Obama.
So far, he’s handling this controversy really well.
The man has serious skills. (!)
Why wouldn’t the Right feel threatened by him?
March 18, 2008 - 08:15 PM on March 18th, 2008
Polls schmolls. For what?
It’s well known that he probably wouldn’t win Pennsylvania, it’s too similar to Ohio which went to Clinton.
And even if he does loses that state, he still pretty much has a lock on the Dem nomination. She just won’t be able overcome his delegate lead in the end. I hope. (fingers crossed)
He’ll have plenty of time to confront the “racial fear” tactic before the general election.
Watch this die down in a few days. Like that whole Rez-somethingorother thing did…
March 18, 2008 - 08:18 PM on March 18th, 2008
So, we can’t talk about bloggers, let alone righties, but you raise Biden and Clinton? Umm Biden called him a pretty clean cut one that can speak well and Hillary is over the moon that she can reap the benefits of Obama’s disaster..I paid close attention to the left leaning blogs..Like I said, do a reality check..besides..74% of the country feels that the MSM is out of touch with reality
March 18, 2008 - 08:19 PM on March 18th, 2008
And Rezko is just heating up…
March 18, 2008 - 08:19 PM on March 18th, 2008
Righties are not voting for Obama. Your race is over. You got McCain.
We’re having ours now, thank you.
March 18, 2008 - 08:21 PM on March 18th, 2008
“besides..74% of the country feels that the MSM is out of touch with reality”
————
And yet, the majority of people pay more attention to the MSM than they do what “bloggers” have to say.
Go figure.
March 19, 2008 - 07:11 AM on March 19th, 2008
“Polls schmolls. For what?”
Oh I agree, but the left lives and dies by polls- nothing like using the left’s own tactics against them.
And we all know how “righty” Rasmussen is. (!)
March 19, 2008 - 07:20 AM on March 19th, 2008
“And yet, the majority of people pay more attention to the MSM than they do what “bloggers” have to say.”
This seems to be a clear reversal of your previous opinions about the internet SFL. Wasn’t it you who claimed that the left was who was moving to the net and one of the primarary reasons they were going to win the election? Isn’t is all over the MSM that Obama’s huge money making ability derives from lots of small contributions coming from individuals from the net? Aren’t bloggers such a Malkin, Huffington and Kos dominating the MSM in politics nowadays? Aren’t there literally hundreds if not thousands of guest appearances from correspondants from Politico, Raal Clear politics, etc?
All one has to do is examine the divide at the Daily Kos to realize how inportant the net and blogs are to the Dems.
It is entertaining SFL to watch you suddenly marginalize the internet when it is a convenient fit for your Obamatonism.
March 19, 2008 - 07:48 AM on March 19th, 2008
Ted- add to that the rise of other now top traffic left leaning blogs that are sick and tired of kos and the picture becomes clear..Kos rose because of Dean..Dean is falling in the eyes of the base..the base, to their credit, realize that the superdelegates, coupled with the disenfranchisement of Florida and Michigan voters, is a disaster that is looming. Dean is not representing the people, Dean is covering his ass. Kos seems to think that blogs owe Dean, when in reality, Dean owes the blogs for his rise..Bloggers carried his message before the MSM. The MSM introduced him as the “grassroots candidate”. They covered him because they couldn’t ignore the impact of the online world any longer. That online world now has candidate access on both sides of the aisle. The MSM is trying to figure out what to do about the blogosphere.
SFL- You say that the majority still pays attention to the MSM? That is true, we do. I can only speak for my family. When I started blogging, they made fun of it..Why bother, it won’t make a difference..Now? I get tips on stories or calls to find out if a particular topic is being discussed. When a topic comes up that angers them? Pam can you blog about this?
My 74 year old Dad still networks with his prep school and college buddies..You don’t think they blog? Think again..my Dad blogs about aviation, his hobby. My brother in law is a sport writer and his job requires that he blog. My Dad and his buddies peruse the political sites and email stories from them every single day! I know, I get them..Sometimes twice! My Dad is, as I said, 74, and he still wants a newspaper in his hands, but the reality is, by the time he gets it, he has already read the top stories in the national news. It’s a habit I guess. He also likes to watch the evening news..Sites like Newsbusters taught him to pick up on what got left out of a story..
March 19, 2008 - 02:42 PM on March 19th, 2008
Obama’s speech was pathetic. Instead of a home run, it was a ground out to shortstop. He revealed himself to be another whining, complaining plantation dweller blaming whitey for everything bad.
At this point Hitlary might be better. Not that I would vore for her ever, but for comparison purposes…
HilLiary’s gotta be loving this…
March 19, 2008 - 02:46 PM on March 19th, 2008
Robert, if my only 2 choices were BHO or HRC..she would get my vote hands down..She panders and pontificates, but she isn’t as whacked..There are 17 people more liberal than her and he is number 1!
March 19, 2008 - 02:50 PM on March 19th, 2008
“HilLiary’s gotta be loving this…”
I wouldn’t be surprised if she got the ball rolling on it myself, in some smoke-filled back room meeting one of her cronies probably handed the Rev Wrong tapes to a member of the media and told them to push it. That is the way the Clintons work.
March 19, 2008 - 04:59 PM on March 19th, 2008
That’s what I was thinking, but BonBon says Hannity has had this for some time and it has just now caught on.
March 19, 2008 - 05:13 PM on March 19th, 2008
Hi Robert. I heard him take credit for it the other night on his show. Of course one never knows that maybe the Clinton machine made a deal with Hannity!! Naww, that would be too hard to imagine.

…I don’t remember making any such claim. But I think it’s fairly well known that Sen. Obama has raised more money online than his competition. Will he win because of it? Who knows?
I stand by my claim; the majority of people pay more attention to the MSM than they do what “bloggers” have to say.
My guess is that most people know the difference between news commentary and actual journalism.
March 19, 2008 - 08:46 PM on March 19th, 2008
“My guess is that most people know the difference between news commentary and actual journalism.”
I disagree. They actually confuse the MSM with actual journalism all the time.
It is entertaining though, watching you whistle past the graveyard in the thread.
March 19, 2008 - 10:38 PM on March 19th, 2008
I ain’t whistlin’ nothin’…
What I’m saying is that traditional journalism reaches and influences more people than online “journalism”.
Pretty hard to argue against that.
