Israel’s Secret Service Tells Jimmy Carter’s Secret Service Detail To Take A Hike..He’s On His Own

They have said no protection for you, you are on your own in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank:

Israel’s secret service has declined to assist U.S. agents guarding former U.S. President Jimmy Carter during a visit in which Israeli leaders have shunned him, U.S. sources close to the matter said on Monday.
Carter angered the Israeli government with plans to meet Hamas’s top leader, Khaled Meshaal, in Syria, and for describing Israeli policy in the occupied Palestinian territories as “a system of apartheid” in a 2006 book.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner, who brokered Israel’s first peace treaty with an Arab neighbor, Egypt, signed in 1979, met Israel’s largely ceremonial president, Shimon Peres, on Sunday but was shunned by the political leadership, including Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Israel has also rejected Carter’s request to meet jailed Palestinian uprising leader Marwan Barghouthi, who is seen as a possible successor to President Mahmoud Abbas, a spokesman for Carter said.

Why put the security detail in danger? Ed points out that:

It gives the State Department a little more leverage about Carter’s trip. They could use the danger into which Carter would lead the Secret Service as a means to ask the Department of Homeland Security to refuse to allow them to accompany Carter. Carter could choose to go without the Secret Service, but without Israeli security, it would present a huge risk ” and if he did go and got killed, it would be an explosive issue for the Bush administration.

I agree with that but part ways with Ed when he says “I think it sets a bad precedent. Cooperation in security should not be predicated on agreement of political policies. Jimmy Carter may be the worst ex-president in American history, but he is still our ex-president, and the Secret Service detail that accompanies him deserves Israeli cooperation.”

No Ed, Jimmy Carter deserves the Secret Service protection provided by our government, but no other. Our government has asked him not to do this, Israels government has asked him not to do this, and yet he is going to do it anyway. Now he can make the choice, but in no way does Israel have to cooperate with him!

  1. Bwaaahahahaha! GOOD for them! Anyway, why does Carter need protection? The bad guys are his pals. He’s their main apologist and useful idiot! They’d never harm a hair on his stupid head…

  2. Carter only proves why he was one of our worse presidents and why he only lasted one stay in the whitehouse THE PEANUT EATER KID is a complete idiot8-}

  3. Good one Pam!..Dhimma Carter is the most vile man on earth..what a hater!:o

  4. Oh if we could only slip a few goobers into his food. He’s deathly allergic to the very crop that he used to raise. Hmmm… I wonder how hard it would be to convince the Mossad to slip him a few?

  5. SW-E-E-E-E-T! Israel, is real! They got it right! You send a rocket at us, we send two bigger ones back at ya. OK SO NOW! WE should do the same. Stop this stuff, send a message anyone can understand. **== We are number one and plan to stay that way, our way or the highway. tit for tat

  6. carolyne- I don’t think we are trying to send a message that we are Number 1 and intend to stay that way, nor is it our way or the highway. There’s a right and wrong way to do things, we just happen to do things a bit better than others..

Israel has an arsenal of weapons pointed at her, what would you have her do?

  7. I do agree Pam:
We in America are the number one greatest nation on earth, and we do need to stay that way and let me be a little clearer. If you come to our country you need to speak English, among other things and if you don’t like that you can hit the road to home. I think when we work for the American dream, we don’t need it taxed to the point we don’t enjoy the fruits of our labor. Our children that are Americans should come first in being educated, not the illegals, etc. I just put it in a general way, of tough love. We need to not have others run over us, and use us.

I clearly agree on Israel’s right to defend themselves, and so do we. I just like their quick style and grace.

BY THE WAY, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT OBAMA IS ALLERGIC TO ?

  8. Let me clarify my position on speaking English..You can speak your native language at home, but when you work or use a bank or go to collect welfare, or anything in public, speak English..The past immigrants that came to this country learned to speak English. Some continued to speak their native languages in their homes or neighborhoods, but they assimilated into the American society. The neighborhoods were steeped in the heritage of those living within it, because at that time, in larger cities, the areas were segregated(by choice) by country ie., Little Italy, German Town, Chinatown etc. It may have been “broken” English that was spoken, but god love them for trying..compare that to today, where we have illegals in this country that have been her for 5+ years that refuse to learn the language.

  9. “BY THE WAY, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT OBAMA IS ALLERGIC TO ?”

I really don’t know, but let me take a guess: The Truth?

After all, the truth is anathema for Leftism for so many reasons, it seemed like a good guess.

  10. Anyone who would speak negitive of President Carter is either ignorant, mentally ill or both,
If you look at his website of the carter center, read his background on wikipedia, or the dvd “The man from Plains” will realize his only purpose is to end suffering on this earth.
His is as close to an agent of Jesus Christ on this earth as you can have.

He is human and no matter who you are you will say things that will annger some.
I am a Jew and if you take away the lables of Jew Arab etc, Carter speaks truth he is a miror of reality, and if you look in the mirror and don’t like your hair comb it or cut it, don’t make bad remarks at it. For those who know, no explation is necessary, for those who don’t no will suffice

  11. “If you look at his website of the carter center, read his background on wikipedia, or the dvd “The man from Plains” will realize his only purpose is to end suffering on this earth.”

If you look at the historical record of his Presidency, and his shameful, disgraceful conduct on the world stage since then, regardless of what his stated purpose is, his halo vanishes.

    From the American Thinker:

    Jimmy Carter: (1977-1981)

Few would deny Mr. Carter’s place in infamy. I will confine myself to his actual time in office, although Jimmy Carter arguably has actually been as detrimental to freedom, democracy and the American ideal as during his catastrophic tenure.

Many historians rank him around the mid 20s, some liberal publications place him even in the top 20, and some conservatives in the low 30s. But these are 1980s and 90s ratings. It no doubt takes two post-presidential decades for more complete observations, as we saw with President Reagan, and will likely see with President Bush, depending upon the successor.

One absurd decision, considered “controversial” by even his ardent supporters, was the final negotiation and signature of the “Panama Canal Treaties” in September 1977. Those treaties, which essentially would transfer control of the American-built Panama Canal to the nation of Panama, were bitterly opposed by a majority of the American public. The treaties transferred a great strategic American asset – one that nearly 30,000 men died while constructing it over a decade — to a corrupt third-world military dictatorship. Mr. Carter could not care less.

America’s worst president also terminated the Russian wheat deal, which was intended to establish trade with USSR and lessen Cold War tensions. Even as a former farmer, Carter didn’t value the grain exports, which would have been beneficial to many people employed in agriculture. This embargo marked the beginning of terrible hardship for American farmers.

If all that were not tragic enough, the main conflict between human rights and U.S. interests came in Carter’s dealings with the Shah of Iran. Though Carter’s presidency was marked by several major crises, the final year of his term arguably was his worst. It was dominated by the Iran Hostage Crisis, during which the United States struggled to rescue diplomats and American citizens held hostage in Tehran, paving the way for the rise of Radical Islam now threatening the free world.

The Shah had been a strong ally of America since World War II. He was also friendly to the Jews of Israel, an idea subsequently non-existent in Iran for more than three decades now. Al Qaeda and the Taliban did not exist and Radical Islam lacked a major state sponsor. Shah Reza Pahlavi was one of the “twin pillars” upon which U.S. strategic policy in the Middle East was built.

When the Iranian Revolution broke out, the Shah was overthrown, and the U.S. did not intervene. The Shah, in permanent exile, was refused entry to the United States by the Carter administration, even on grounds of medical emergency. Nearly a year later, Washington relented and admitted the Shah into the U.S. Gaining strength and confidence, Iranian militants seized the American embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage.

The Shah died a few months later in Egypt, but the hostage crisis continued, dominating the last year of Carter’s presidency and putting his misguided policies on display for the world to see, embarrassing America in the process. Carter’s response was to do nothing at first. He simply stayed inside the White House. Then he attempted a rescue he closely managed, which failed. (Contrast this to President Bush after 9-11, though he was still criticized in the press). The redeeming factor in this telling ordeal was Carter’s crushing defeat by Ronald Reagan in the presidential election.

The hostages were released on January 20, 1981 moments after Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th President of the USA. Carter’s greatest achievement was leaving office.

Do remember stagflation? Malaise? Those described the economy during Carter’s tenure. He was a pathetic loser of a President, and is a disgrace since then. I call him Peanut Brain, a name he has earned.
