Bush was talking about Jimmy Carter, not the Messiah, but he refuses to accept this:
Barack Obama struck back hard at President Bush and John McCain Friday, accusing them of hypocrisy and of distorting his position on dialogue with nations hostile to the United States, telling a South Dakota crowd that “I’m running for president to change course, not to continue George Bush’s course.”
“I want to be perfectly clear with George Bush and John McCain, and with the people of South Dakota,” he said at a Watertown campaign stop. “If George Bush and John McCain want to have a debate about protecting the United States of America, that is a debate that I’m happy to have any time, any place and that is debate I will win because George Bush and John McCain have a lot to answer for.”
In his comments before the Israeli Knesset Thursday, Bush seemed to equate the Illinois senator’s foreign policy views with those of Nazi appeasers in the years before World War II, though he did not mention any names. Obama strongly criticized the president for the remarks Friday, calling them “the kind of appalling attack that’s divided our country and that alienates us from the world.”
On Friday, Obama also fired back at McCain for saying Thursday that the Democratic senator was not qualified to protect the nation. “[John McCain] talked about elevating the tone of debate in our country. He talked about reaching out in a bipartisan fashion to the other side. Then not an hour later he turned around and embraced George Bush’s attack on Democrats,” said Obama, who called the Arizona senator’s Iran policy “naïve and irresponsible.”
Michael Goldfarb responds to Obama using his grandfather as a human shield:
[Obama:] McCain “accused me of not being fit to protect this nation – a nation my grandfather served in World War II– a nation that’s given me everything that I have,” Obama said, then pivoted to attack Bush and McCain on a series of issues: Iraq; the survival of Osama bin Laden’s and the Al Qaeda’s leadership; Iran’s strength; and Hamas’s and Hezbollah’s ascendancy.
My great uncle killed a lot of Germans, and I have the war trophies to prove it. I’m not sure that makes me uniquely qualified to protect this country. It’s odd that Obama continually defends himself using the politics of association, while at the same time condemning those who would attack him based on his associations with people like Rev. Wright. Obama’s father was communist, but he didn’t get to choose his father, or his grandfather. And their politics have little bearing on his own. But he did choose to associate with people like Robert Malley who would attempt to appease Hamas. And he hung around with Bill Ayers, who clearly does not love this nation. Those associations would seem far more relevant than his grandfather’s service in the Second World War.

Well Obama has to play the roll and be a big shot. You can see through him like the glass slipper. He knows just what will get people stirred up, and seems like that is all he has done since the began his pretty speeches. How he can tell what is ‘naive and irresponsible’ except in the example his pastor? has set and his wife is very irresponsible in not wanting to pay back her student loan. Obama is only a Jr. Senator, and has not done one thing dealing with foreign policy. He’s over playing his hand and showing everyone how stupid he really is.
Well Good, keep it up!
They say that the sting in any rebuke is the truth. As the statement wasn’t even aimed at Obama and he still took offense to it, one has to conclude that a significant portion of the comment must be true of Obama as well.
As for Nancy Pelosi’s response to the statement, she needs to STFU. For a woman who’s party has said what she has said while abroad about this country to chastise Bush for his comment is utter hypocrasy.
Oh I did think it was a little out of step for Obama. Being the muslim that he is though he is desperately searching for a way to cozy up with the muslim world in a fashion american citizens will support.
Foreign policy has been successful for us. Do we really want to start giving tyrants of the world credibility? Okay, maybe that’s a dumb question. Carter obviously does and so does Pelosi.
But do they really represent the majority of America? I doubt it. Educate yourselves people. Educate, educate, educate. Then vote for someone who will protect America. We cannot afford to lose this terror war.
I thought it was hilarious Obhama just assumed he was the target; elevating himself to the level of statesman. Uh, there’s still an election, Baraq, you aren’t President yet.
He is still just a contender with no record of accomplishment in the Senate and a lot of flaws.
Guys…regarding Sen. Obama’s “record of accomplishment”, let’s keep in mind that:
Obama has more legislative experience than Abraham Lincoln did at his election to the presidency.
All Sen. Obama has to do in a general election debate with McCain is remind viewers of this simple fact.
All McCain has to do to gain a laugh is to say; “Senator, I served with Abe Lincoln: I knew Abe Lincoln; Abe Lincoln was a friend of mine. Senator, you’re no Abe Lincoln.”
“Being the muslim that he is”

BonBon, that’s just plain stupid.
You’re better than that.

9. Until you get your ass whipped of course.
As for Obama being a muslim its not plain stupid and furthermore if I were Jewish I would be very concerned about now on what I’ve heard him say. “Tough diplomacy” my ass. Diplomatic isolation is what American adheres to.
One more thing. I have a very liberal father in law and he is still trying to understand why the man he thinks is a hero met with Hamas, wrote an anti semitic book and blames Israel for the state of Palestinians. My father in law is jewish and I’m talking about Jimma Cahter. Things to think about.
7. This is a very different world than what old Abe lived in and had to deal with. Obama has not been a senator in the United States Congress long enough to have gained any real world experience. I’m not discounting state legislative service but for this global world it’s not enough.
One should come to the presidency having served as a governor or in the U.S. Congress with more than just one term of experience. They need to have a voting record and a resume of committee such as foreign affairs, etc.

To bad for you that the US Constitution doesn’t say anything remotely like that in its qualifications for President.
Perhaps SFL you should go back and read the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. Then you should take a tour of DC and take note of our founding fathers monuments and most importantly their writings. It’s very enlightening. Of course I live near DC and have been going there all my life and been able to absorb most of it but it’s there for the taking.
Speaking of DC. Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than the blooms of the Cherry blossoms with the Monument in the background? It’s lovely.

Perhaps it’s the losers of this argument who need to take a refresher course on our government system of checks and balances and of State and Federal Constitutions.
Clearly, a (republican) majority of very well educated CA Sup. Court Justices seem to think a gay marriage ban in CA is unconstitutional.
…I’ve been to DC once back in Jan.1993 when I saw the first Clinton inauguration. I still have the “official invite” in some photo album somewhere. Great city to visit with tons of places to see, I just wish it had been warmer!
What the #$%^& does gay marriage and the Ca Supreme Court have to do with Obama’s lack of adequate experience for the job of President in a VERY dangerous world? Would you want someone with one flying lesson landing the 747 that you and your family is flying on? Get serious. There is anti energy global wamring legislation coming to the floor of the Senate that’s going to raise gas prices anywhere from $1.50 to $5.00 MORE per gallon. Don’t you think it might make sense to have someone be president with the good sense and experience to realize that that might not be such a good idea? Obama isn’t that person. Personally that pretty much leaves out all three of these dimwits, but thanks to “winner take all” Republican primaries, they’re what we’re stuck with. Without the “winner take all” states, Mit would be ahead in delegates. He was the most experienced and qualified of any of the candidates.
As for the Ca Supreme Court decision. The CA Supreme Court wasn’t ruling on the US Constitution, only the CA one, and because of their ruling, the people of California are going to put an initiative on the ballot to amend the CA Constitution. Congratulations California gay rights activists, with your court room antics, you have set back the gay rights movement 20 years. I’m not opposed to gay marriage, I think opposing it is stupid. However, I’ve been screaming for years that trying to shove a leftist agenda down someone’s throat via judicial fiat is going to lead to a huge backlash, and it has. The Gay rights movement in this country needs to learn from the civil rights movement. It takes time to convince people to accept someone who is different. Just because 4 people in black robes make a ruling (a ruling that one of the dissenting justices claimed required judicial jiu jitsu to reach) doesn’t mean that that ruling is going to be enforceable. A judge may have ordered the desegregation of the Univerity of Mississippi, but it took the National Guard and the 101st Airborne to enforce that ruling.
