Sen. Edward M. Kennedy Has Malignant Brain Tumor

By: Pam On: May/20/08 - 32 Comments

I am sorry to hear this:

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor. Doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat say tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe. His treatment will be decided after more tests but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy. The 76-year-old senator has been hospitalized in Boston since Saturday, when he was airlifted from Cape Cod after a seizure at his home.

His wife and children have been with him each day but have made no public statements.

His doctors said in a statement released to The Associated Press that he has had no further seizures, is in good spirits and is resting comfortably.

Another source:

Malignant gliomas are a type of brain cancer diagnosed in about 9,000 Americans a year ” and the most common type among adults. It’s a starting diagnosis: How well patients fare depends on what specific tumor type is determined by further testing.

Average survival can range from less than a year for very advanced and aggressive types ” such as glioblastomas ” or to about five years for different types that are slower growing.

Hard to believe the guy has been in the senate since he was 30. I almost posted something sarcastic and mean spirited, but then I asked myself, what separates us from the left if we can’t show some class in unfortunate times?

    I wish him a speedy recovery…..and retirement.

The Senator needs to focus on any possibility for treatment and recovery that exists. He should immediately resign and apologize for all of the damage he has done to America over his career.

If you had any class, you wouldn’t have even said what you did. If you think the job of public servant is that easy, please go out and do it yourself.

Sorry David. We all feel for the guy but the fact remains he left a girl to die in a lake one night and did nothing but cover it up. He has been a disgrace as a public servant and should have served time in jail, not the U.S. Senate.

Robert is correct. He should resign and apologize.

Did you people make similar comments when the pope was nearing the end of his demise??

The Pope? I don’t remember making similar comments but I did think that he would be answering to his maker just why he covered up the pedo thing in this church.

#5 So you are comparing the career and character of an unindicted felony drunken driver and a traitor to the Pope? An exercise in hyperbolic absurdity. I’m not even gonna comment on that one.

And as we have already said on this site, none of us wishes ill on anyone. That doesn’t change anything about who this man is and what he has done.

We’re just talking about the record. And no, I will never forgive him (and America shouldn’t) until he genuinely asks for it.

The Pope didn’t allow a girl to try and claw the interior roof off his car as she sat in the cold dark Atlantic gasping for her last breath on earth, while he went ashore and said nothing for 12 hours.

I certainly don’t agree with what he did and the jury’s still out on whether he was a good senator. Just don’t give me “well, I could have said…” stuff. I seriously challenge you to work in governement instead of taking potshots.
As for the incident with the girl, he owes it to her family and no one else.

David, I don’t know why you continue to come and try to post reason here. These are sad, sad people, and their lack of compassion towards a fellow human being, regardless of past acts or political alignment, shows exactly why this country is so tired of the conservative viewpoint. These people are probably going drinking tonight with Ann Coulter, toasting to a grim diagnosis.

    You people make me sick.

Robert: You are right and David you have a screw missing and several loose. This Ted Kennedy is a drunk, womanizer, murderer, etc, etc, etc, and should apologize but too little, too late. We won’t hold our breath on this one! God will justify this inhuman act. You do reap what you sow. Looks like harvest time for Ole Kennedy. As far as a hard job, he’s been paid well for it, and then some. Kennedy probably doesn’t remember much of it, for being drunk and having a hang over most of the time. One thing for sure, though Ted Kennedy will NEVER admit it, he remembers Mary Jo.
Even the liqueur he guzzles down, can’t drown that memory.

  13. Pam
    May 20, 2008 - 01:14 PM on May 20th, 2008

On the contrary David, he owes this country an apology for his acions with regards to Maryjo. He should have resigned the Senate at that time, and when he didn’t, he should have been forced out by his party. Instead, he went on to make a mockery of his position for the next 30 years. I am sorry for what he is going through now, but it does not negate his past. Robert isn’t being paid to be a Senator, Teddy is. Teddy has a large staff to do the actual work, hence, Teddy can be found on his office (his boat) for the better part of the summer. The bad behavior didn’t start with Maryjo, it is a lifelong pattern. He was the Kennedy that virtually nothing great was expected of. He did give a nice eulogy to his brother though.. but beyond that, he has done nothing so profound as to make people think of his work rather than his bad behavior!

thanks, Pam. I actually come to blogs that I don’t necessarily agree with so I learn a thing or two. I also appreciate debate short on rhetoric and long on substance, even if I disagree, otherwise, why bother.
As for Ted, I’m not from MASS and can’t comment on what he’s done. I don’t care for the fact that he’s considered the torch-bearer for the Liberal Cause as he pretty much stays with the status quo. I’ll pray for him and Maryjo and let that be it.

David that was humble, but you don’t have to be from Massachusetts to know what Ted Kennedy has done or hadn’t done is more like it. He is notorious, to say the least, infamous in other words.

Is their a party with Ann Coulter, if so, let me know! I’d like to go!<:-p

While I find Ted Kennedy repulsive for his actions and attitudes, I will wish him and his family well.

I feel that Ted needs to resign, undergo treatment and spend whatever time God deems him to have left with his family. There is one bright point to all of this. Should he survive the cancer, the 6 months of Chemo and radiation therapy will almost certain result in his losing a substantial amount of weight. A fact that, if he does survive the cancer, will insure his life following it will be greatly enhanced. If caught early enough, the cancer in his brain might actually help to prevent a heart attack or stroke later on.

:((David, teddies (hic) bad behavior for thirty years and pathetic insults towards the men and women serving this country can not be excused or condoned by public service. To the contrary, the man has set this country and the good work his family of brothers accomplished back generations.
His utter disgrace by vocalizing drunken tirades in front of the world has only emboldened our enemies and weakened our standing to a degree even his own brothers would have strung him up for. How many service personnel have perished due to his callus words? So, no tears here, just god speed…
