Just 2 days ago, I posted Democrats and Our Enemies by Senator Joe Lieberman, now read Republicans and Our Enemies by Senator Joe Biden. Given that Biden has a history of plagiarism, it didn’t shock me to see the title. What did shock me is that Biden thought this worthy of a WSJ reader rather than The Daily Kos.

There are people who are alive simply because it’s illegal to shoot them… If this country falls into chaos because of the coming economic crisis, some won’t survive. Here’s a history lesson for Biden. The last two times an oblivious ruling class taxed the populace into poverty to the point of starvation was 1780s France and 1917 Russia. Ask Louis, Marie Antoinette, a Czar Nicholas II how that worked out for them.

#2 I never thought of Louis XVI and Czar Nicholas II as de facto Democrats, but the similarities are there. Mismanage the economy, then keep raising taxes until economic activity slows to the point very little progress is made (like Carter). Then tax away what little the people have left. By then they are all virtual slaves/poor.

Biden is the fool, and Obama ‘clean or unclean,’ is number one top fool if he thinks we don’t see right through his black skin. He says HE’S going to make America great? That takes the cake and is the most arrogant asinine statement ever made. OBAMA IS PLAYING GOD! Not even close, the (g) god of this world, now that is more like it. Obama has caused this country more grief than at any time in it’s history, and Obama has played the race card to the hilt.

BonBon they’ll be blaming Bush for years. If they get the White House and run the Nation into the ground, they’ll blame Bush for it. Any problems whatsoever they’ll tie to Bush’s tenure because he was there for 8 years.
Yeah, I know that Robert. But my beef is that while libbies are quick to do that they are equally quick to excuse Clinton’s bad decisions. They just don’t want to hear that. I hate to play the blame game but facts are facts and lets face it Clinton missed his chance to start eliminating terrorism. We had more red flags during his presidency than in the previous three combined.
I just got finished reading this piece in its entirety. I can’t even begin to list the mistakes both in historical context and fact. The sunnis and shia’s do NOT hate each other as much as they hate jews/Israelis and most of all the good ole’ U.S. of A.
Islam is an ideology based on the Koran. What is being advocated by terrorists is exactly what the Koran teaches and that is that Islam will rule the world one day. Yes, the jews and christians can live in a world dominated by Islam if they pay a tax.
Mr. Biden, please either shut your trap or read your history.

As for Obama’s plan for the WOT, I’ve not seen anything that gives me great confidence. Not like GW every had one to bigin with that didn’t have a bomb attached to it. Edwards actually had one which drew on more resources from the FBI and CIA (they’ve been fighting this enemy for decades) and it actually made sense.
What I see in the above commentaries isn’t much more then Liberal-bashing. In the waning hours of Memorial Day, someone give me five things to fight international Islamic terrorism?

First of all David I think you underestimate President Bush. He has worked on many levels to fight terrorism. Unfortunately the main stream media doesn’t publish those stories and they are only found in places like Fox News that are more fair.
As for five things I would suggest that the first one be to listen and BELIEVE the words they speak. It comes from the Koran and they mean what they say. Second would be to work on a local level making sure all muslims in the community understand we are all equal and anything less than MUTUAL respect and tolerance will not be permitted. Third, we need to work on immigration issues. That would be alot of work but large jobs can be accomplished in small increments. Fourth, we need to show our military might. I’ve always liked the saying “Peace through superior firepower.” Americans needn’t worry about looking bad. We are a fair, noble and decent country.
Number five would be vigilance in a changing world. I think our society needs to educate itself a little better about the world outside of our borders. Learning their languages, history and culture would be a good start. We should remain wary but open to those that wish peace.

You’ll have to do a lot of selling to convince me that GWB has both been underestimated and has worked on many levels to fight terrorism. Even more selling that Fox presents things that are “fair and balanced”. I have come to realize that CNN is to be taken with a grain of salt as well, so maybe that point won’t change.
Perhaps his speeches don’t do him justice, but the only credible thing I see that he did to fight terror that doesn’t involve the military is to create DHS. Anyone I know that has worked for DHS (mainly in Information Security, which is my field) has said that the problem is worse not better because of the large beaurocracy they have to deal with.
I appreciate your response to the points challenge. I’m not sure of the first one, I think many people already do that, but more the better, I guess.
Second, I live in NYC and its the most integrated city I know of where Muslims are not just a community unto their own so I’m not sure how you’d proceed there. I go for just being an example. Muslims here are your kids friend, the guy who gives you a seat on the subway and someone you work with. No big deal, no frills, just do your job and treat the way you want to be treated.
Third I agree whole hearted with and a lot of legal immigrants would as well. US currently has two guest worker programs and adding a third would be just stupid. INS gets the worst IT Systems report cards going, how about invest in fixing what is broken.
Fourth sounds great as well. Help the little guy and stand up to the big guy. Anything less would be letting our fore fathers down.
Fifth is a great idea but has always had a problem due to our propensity toward isolationism and disaffection towards Spanish. The best I can do is encourage my kids to learn another language and travel as much as possible.
We’ll get there. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
