Obama’s revisionist history
This week’s minor controversy about Barack Obama’s claim that an uncle liberated Auschwitz was quickly put to rest by his campaign. They conceded that it was a great uncle whose unit liberated Buchenwald, 500 miles away.
But other, much more troubling, episodes have provided a revealing glimpse into a candidate who instinctively resorts to parsing, evasions and misdirection. The saga over Rev. Jeremiah Wright is Exhibit A. In just 62 days, Americans were treated to eight different explanations.

Rove is wise to point this out. It shows just how naive and inexperienced this guy is. That is over and above the muslim issue. Barack Hussein Obama is the wrong man for the job.
May 29, 2008 - 11:16 AM on May 29th, 2008
Oh come on, the man misspoke. He said one concentration camp when he meant another.
LOL…yeeeeah, sounds like a big deal to me!
This BARELY even registers as an “attack” on Obama, its so weak.
And then you try to insert Wright into it? I think you’ll find that most people are “over” the whole Wright thing and that it’s old news, and will no longer “hurt” Obama.
Lastly, BonBon, for the love of God…Obama is NOT a Muslim. You’re smarter than that, so don’t fall that low brow garbage…
May 29, 2008 - 11:56 AM on May 29th, 2008
Actually the two places were about 360 miles away. Sorry Karl
May 29, 2008 - 12:07 PM on May 29th, 2008
2- Oh, but for 7 years it has been a big deal SFL. The left has taught us that there is no mis-speaking or room for tiredness when we look at the POTUS.
May 29, 2008 - 12:29 PM on May 29th, 2008
Yes, I am smarter than that SFL. Why aren’t you? Culturally in the name of Islam if you have a father that is a muslim then you are a muslim and any conversion is rejected by the Koran and not recognized. That is a fact. Whether or not Obama considers himself muslim or not is beside the fact. Equally true is if you have a Jewish mother you are always Jewish and no conversion would be recognized by Judaism.
Comprendavous?
May 29, 2008 - 01:16 PM on May 29th, 2008
#5 you have it square, fair, and just right. Capiche!

Bon Bon you have spoken ‘Truth’ that none of the lefties seem to be familiar with. Obama does not know truth or speak truth. We all see through his ‘just words’ that do matter. Now switch things up a bit and have McCain, or Hillary say that, OMG!
Let’s don’t even get started with that. Pray tell!
None of us have that long to live!

“Culturally in the name of Islam if you have a father that is a muslim then you are a muslim and any conversion is rejected by the Koran and not recognized. That is a fact. Whether or not Obama considers himself muslim or not is beside the fact.”
———————-
That’s just retarded. And you should know better than to fall for garbage like this.
A minority of fundamentalist Muslims might feel that way and think of Obama as an “apostate”, but I can assure you that the moderate majority probably do not.
Obama has long ago accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
I thought that was good enough for you Jesus Freaks?
The correct answer to this “debate” is: Who cares what a small minority of backwardsass-holdbacks think of Obama because of his dad?
May 29, 2008 - 03:17 PM on May 29th, 2008
“Equally true is if you have a Jewish mother you are always Jewish and no conversion would be recognized by Judaism.”
—————–
No, actually, again it depends on who you’re talking with. Peoples beliefs vary and you should know better than to make broad generalizations about anything, but especially religion.
I grew up in a Very Jewish neighborhood. There were folks who were Orthodox all the way down to American Reform.
I even know some Jews for Jesus families.
And each one of them will have a different belief about people who convert from Judaism to whatever…
And the same goes with Muslims.
My Advice: Avoid generalizations about religious beliefs. It makes the speaker look less informed.
May 29, 2008 - 03:22 PM on May 29th, 2008
I’ll admit that Obama WOULD have looked stupid IF he said the name of some other concentration camp from a different war or time period, like the ones from the 2nd Boer War or something…
But accidentaly switching the names from two very well known places, from the same war, against the same enemy is NOT a big deal, like, at all.
Is this HONESTLY the best shots the Right can take at Obama?!?
Weak!
May 29, 2008 - 05:52 PM on May 29th, 2008
San Fran you are still missing the point. Do you have any respect for cultural or religious differences at all? I didn’t say Obama didn’t think of himself as Christian. I merely stated that culturally muslims are always considered muslims if their father is one. Same as a Jewish person is considered Jewish if their mother is Jewish.
You may think I don’t know what I’m talking about but one of my closest friends is a muslim, my husbands jewish and I am a Methodist, white, country girl. Go figure.
As far as “who cares what a minority of backwardsass holdbacks” think I’ll tell you. Islam has threatened both jews and christians; specifically Israel and the U.S. We better be listening and listening closely and more importantly BELIEVING their words.

We all know about religious traditions regarding parents and children, that isn’t what I’m taking issue with here.
You said that religious conversions are not recognized in either Islam or Judaism, which isn’t always true and usually only applies to those with fundamentalist or orthodox beliefs.

“Islam has threatened both jews and christians; specifically Israel and the U.S. We better be listening and listening closely and more importantly BELIEVING their words.”
————
No. Islam does not “threaten” jews and christians.
A minority of fundamentalist fanatics are abusing their religion for violent and maniacal reasons.
The vast majority of muslims in the world are regular people who want to live their lives in peace like the rest of us.
As for Al Qaeda, I don’t have to listen to their pathetic words. They’re “leaders” are forced to hide in dark caves. As long as they are relentlessly pursued like the criminals that they are I’m not really afraid of terrorists.
Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany could have done waaaaaay more damage to the US and the world than these backward-throwback terrorists ever could. THOSE guys were something to fear…

Their “leaders”
May 29, 2008 - 09:25 PM on May 29th, 2008
While the vast majority of Muslims may be moderates, their lack of serious condemnation of the violent, radical Islamists amounts to nothing more than tacit consent. They are either supporting the Islamofascists or they aren’t. Sitting on the sidelines is tacit support. We have Muslims here in Phoenix who are speaking out, but they are a small minority. Everyone else is either actively or tacitly supporting those who would highjack their religion. Is there anyone with a brain who doesn’t believe that the six “Flying Imams” weren’t actively trying to provoke an incident on the airplane last year? Is there any reason to take the actions they took other than to do so? The only reason why they dropped their lawsuit against the passengers who complained about their behavior was because a former Navy doctor who is Muslim and his anti extremist moderate Muslim group stepped up to cover any and all legal bills involving the other passengers. When the flying Imams discovered that this group was going to insure that their lawsuits were NOT going to be able to intimidate people into not reporting suspicious behavior, the suit went nowhere. One moderate Muslim who lives in Phoenix said on talk radio that had he seen the “Flying Imams” doing what they were doing, he’d have asked to be allowed off of the plane and taken another flight.
Obama may not consider himself a Muslim, but the strict adherents to the Muslim religion do.
May 30, 2008 - 12:24 AM on May 30th, 2008
Any Republican candidate would have been hounded out already by the MSM for 10% of what Obama has said in terms of gaffes.
The mask is off, the truth has become apparent. Obama is not just a fool, he is a dangerous fool. I am starting to think even Hillary would be better.
Never thought I could say that…
May 30, 2008 - 05:54 AM on May 30th, 2008
SFL, you are dancing and spinning in ways you always accused Bush of doing. HYPOCRITE!!!!!!
Oh, and being a hypocrite is a prerequisite of being a good liberal.
SFL, Answer the question, are you ready to live on condoms when the big one hits?
May 30, 2008 - 11:28 AM on May 30th, 2008
PCD, yes, I would gladly use condoms in case of the Big One hitting SF.
Not only would they be effective in holding water, but they can also be used to hold/carry/protect some food stuffs, they can also be used in place of rubber bands for binding things together…
And, most importantly, they would prevent the spread of diesese and unwanted pregnancies.
You see, PCD, some of us actually DO have sex. (!)
You should try it sometime…

“Obama is not just a fool, he is a dangerous fool.”
———————-
That’s just baseless retarded hyperbole, Robert.
If being succesful and coming within two steps of the presidency makes the man “a fool”, than what does that make YOU as you sit around in your living room doing your daily routine?
Obama, McCain, and even Hillary are anything BUT fools…
Karl Rove could be called a fool because he predicted the 2006 elections would go OK for Republicans. They did not.
If I were you, I’d be more than a little doubtful as to what comes out of Roves mouth. He seems to have long ago lost his “touch”.

Apparently, repeatedly saying stupid shit is a prerequisite for being a far-right conservative.

Apparently SFL has some recipes that use condoms. Condom soup, anyone? Condom salad? Condom souffle with fresh ground pepper?
SFL why don’t you give those recipes to the starving people in Burma so they can make good use of all those UN condoms?
May 30, 2008 - 02:52 PM on May 30th, 2008
SFL let me list whi imo Obama is a fool:
1. Obama is inexperienced and naive to the extreme, as evidenced by some of the breathtakingly idiotic statements he has made.
2. He has put his foot, even both feet, in his mouth so many times he is making Dan Quayle look like Einstein.
3. He whines and com0lians whenever he is asked a tough question. He acts like since he’s positioned himself above the political strata and so feels he does not have to be accountable for anything. He apparently thinks he can get away with it just because the MSM has enabled it.
4. His response to and management of scandal caused by revelations about the content of his character has been extremely inept and has only served to confirm speculation. That alone shows he is not ready for the office he seeks.
5. He thinks just because he has suckered so many he can sucker America. As stupid as this society has collectively become, fortunately there are still enough that can think for themselves that Obama will not succeed. At least I hope there still is…
I have never been a Rove fan and do not see why he is relevant. I thought Rove ran an inept campaign for Bush in 2004 and the main reason why Bush won is that Kerry was so bad. The Swift Boat Vets did more for the Bush campaign than Karl Rove.

“If being succesful and coming within two steps of the presidency makes the man “a foolâ€, than what does that make YOU as you sit around in your living room doing your daily routine?”
Succesfful? So just what has Obama done for America? He plugged into and played the corrupt Chicago political scheme to get into public office. Did some dirty deals along the way (no doubt what is known is the tip of the iceberg).
Has he done anything in the Senate besides voting for partial birth abortion? Has he authored legislation to address America’s energy needs? Anything?
I will argue that my volunteering to serve in the U.S. military, at a time when there were no signing bonuses, college money, or anything else as an incentive except wanting to do something for my country, is far more than anything I have seen Obama do for this Country.
I’ll tell you what I think: Obama is an opportunist, but more, he is an infiltrator. His very essence is steeped in the Hate America, Hate Whitey venom of The Wrights, Pflegers, and Farrakhans of the world. He is the product of politically and emotionally warped, demented America-haters. This guy is bad, bad news. As Mark Levin points out, if he applied, he probably couldn’t even get a Secret Security clearance, and absolutely not a Top Secret clearance. And somehow he is material for CIC (above Top Secret)? It doesn’t matter? To pretend that is astonishingly bad judgement.
Sorry, NO DEAL. I could never trust him. Pack his traveling snake oil con roadshow and send it back to Chicago. They deserve him.

“SFL why don’t you give those recipes to the starving people in Burma so they can make good use of all those UN condoms?”
———————–
You’re saying that because you’re 100% SURE that the UN sent ONLY condoms, and NO OTHER kind of aid like food or medicine, right? Please.
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with giving multiple kinds of assistance to people in dire need. Food, Medicine, Reproductive Health Kits, and yes, condoms.
May 30, 2008 - 05:27 PM on May 30th, 2008
“Obama is an opportunist, but more, he is an infiltrator.”
————————
…and he has a VERY good chance of winning the Presidency this fall. (!)
I’d call his life story from the begining to the present as the very definition of the word “successful”.
May 30, 2008 - 06:43 PM on May 30th, 2008
SFL you still haven’t articulated just what Obama has done for this Country. I stand on my claim…as far as I know, I have done more.
