Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Reid On Bush:”He has the power, with the signing of a pen, to release more options for offshore drilling — he has the power to do this.” The Truth: If the current president were to rescind that executive order, it would be a symbolic move because the congressional moratorium would still disallow further drilling.

Funny how Reid chose these words to describe the situation:

“What the president is doing is unfair to the American people to indicate, ‘We will let Congress do something about it,’ ” Reid said. “He has the authority to do it himself.”

This is typical Bush White House politics. It’s Orwellian,” Reid added. “He has the power, with the signing of a pen, to release more options for offshore drilling — he has the power to do this.”……

…………….In 1990, the elder Bush also implemented an executive ban, which was extended by President Clinton, to last until June 2012. If the current president were to rescind that executive order, it would be a symbolic move because the congressional moratorium would still disallow further drilling.

The adjective Orwellian describes the situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being non-favourable to the welfare of a free-society. It connotes an attitude and a policy of control by propaganda, misinformation, denial of truth, and manipulation of the past, including the “unperson” ” a person whose past existence is expunged from the public record and memory, practiced by modern repressive governments. Often, this includes the circumstances depicted in his novels, particularly Nineteen Eighty-Four.

How odd that Reid chose the very adjective that describes the Democratic leadership to a tee.

Democrats are liars from the top of the ticket to the DNC to Congress, to the state legislatures. They lie to get elected, and their sheeple can’t admit they keep the liars in office.
