The Smell Of Desperation Surrounds The Democratic Convention

By: Pam On: Jul/3/08 -

According to the Los Angeles Times, the DNC is considering ending the convention one day early.  The reasons vary:

Barack Obama’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee are toying with a convention scheduling change that has been broached before in theory but never seriously considered: cutting the party’s conclave in Denver short by one day to give Obama an extra day of post-nomination bounce in the crowded August calendar.

For the last several decades ” when conventions became forums that merely rubber-stamp a presumptive nominee ” they have traditionally run from Monday through Thursday. Increasingly, both parties have struggled to offer something of interest during the first couple of convention nights, and the television networks have responded by dramatically reducing live coverage. The only truly significant event has been the nominee’s acceptance speech, delivered during prime time on Thursday evening.

But Obama aides have floated the idea of ending the Denver convention on Wednesday, Aug. 27, instead of Thursday, Aug. 28.

The reason is the calendar. This year ” unlike in the past, when there was some separation between the two gatherings ” the Republican convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul is scheduled to begin four days later, on Monday, Sept. 1. The result, many Democrats believe, could be that Obama would not get the poll number bounce that nominees usually get immediately after being officially anointed.

The dead-cat bounce that Obama generated from the end of the primaries has the Democrats worried as well as the lack of cash to cover the convention.  As Ed points out, “It sounds like a desperate way to save money more than a boost for its candidate, and it will come at the expense of the host city, and its venues and hotels.  The Democrats believe they can make a play for Colorado, but that will be difficult if they pull a dine-and-dash on its Mile High city. “

Skunks!!!!!!!!! I have no intention to listen to a word of the ignorant GLOOM NEWS reporting on the convention from NBC MSNBC CNN etc. What a big waste of time in the summer time. Where in the world is Matt Lauer’s head? HUA He does nothing but report GLOOM & DOOM - admittedly BO & MO are DOOM & GLOOM! That honeymoon (IF ELECTED) will last about five seconds, if that, with Obama’s gaffes and MO’S BIG MOUTH. What a couple of JOKERS!!!!!!!!!:-j

A bit of a hijack, but:

Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claimsJay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fake Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same Daily Kos blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.
The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider’s revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the diligent detective work of independent investigative journalists (led by JimJ and Texas Darling) and imaging professionals such as Polarik in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate The Daily Kos, a “progressive” blog site, and the Obama campaign’s “Fight the Smears” website, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance. Moreover, the blog and the campaign have been negligent in allowing the promotion of obviously forged and fake official documents together with the purported image of Obama’s birth certificate. [...]Without a valid birth certificate, the primary record of US birth, Obama cannot prove that he fulfills the “natural born citizen” requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President and throwing the race into turmoil. His presumed Kenyan-born father was foreign-born, and his mother was too young at the time of birth to confer natural born status by virtue of her American citizenship. Thus his citizenship comes down to proving he was born in the USA, and his campaign has staked its credibility on the authenticity of the Daily Kos-derived birth certificate image. (These aspects of the case are covered extensively in the previous article in this series.) [...]http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12956

The Demorat Convention could not be any more desperate than with Obama. That is the worst choice since Carter, how pathetic! It is the bottom of the barrel, and then some.
Disgraceful, disgusting, and delusional. At least all of them will be in one place at the same time, Lord only knows what could happen? <:-p8-}>:)
Maybe some one will coral them up in there and they won’t be able to get out. Wishful thinking!
