Calling the Democrats’ bluff

House Republicans Challenge Democrats to Join Fight for Lower Energy Prices

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republicans today sent a letter to every member of the Democratic caucus requesting they join Republicans and the American people in calling for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to reconvene the House of Representatives and pass a comprehensive, “all of the above” energy plan.

“If you agree that Congress should not be taking a five-week vacation until we address the energy crisis, will you join us in publicly calling on Speaker Pelosi to reconvene the House and allow a vote on increasing American-made energy,” the entire Republican leadership said in the letter.

Republicans have remained in Washington, D.C., since Speaker Pelosi adjourned the House for a five-week vacation last Friday in an attempt to silence the minority and deny the American people a vote to provide relief from our nation’s energy crisis.

Typical Republican swipe. The energy crisis has been around for years and now they claim that if they don’t solve it now, it won’t be solved. Go home, take your vacation. The energy crisis will be here when you get back off your Lear Jets. Perhaps they might think of a more creative solution then, “We should drill more”. Not that the Democrats have been all that awe-inspiring as well. They are just looking for a long term solution rather then a quick fix so the rest of us can get back to business as usual.

    Swipe?

Pelosi and Reid have been running on the energy platform. They have been trying to pin this on the right. When confronted with the issue most Americans are faced with today, high energy costs, they go on vacation and promise no relief. Alternatives are a great promise, but people need relief today!

The jobs crated from drilling and the exploration and development of nw fuel sources is a hot issue. I guess trying to sell a book for personal gain is more importantant to the Speaker!

NY David, you are smart enough to know that the answer is a comprehensive energy plan with the goal of energy independence. That is what the Republicans holding out in the House are advocating. Characterizing it as drill now only is a mischaracterization, a red herring. You are much more intelligent than that argument.

Pelosi and her mentally-ill cohorts are just giving us the finger, while bankrupting America. Pelosi should be removed from the House immediately. Prison or a mental institution, either way.

I actually heard Pelosi say, “we have a planet to save” when asked the question directly by none other than Stephanopolis. I was amazed she was so out of touch.

David, you should take the time to research the voting records of both parties for the last 30 years and you will find that it’s been the dems who have consistently held back legislation and votes for energy independence. The republicans are culpable insofar as they just let it pass without a fight. At least there is a group (partisan) left that stayed behind to try to help us and do their job. It’s a start.
