Are Far Left Groups Like MoveOn Secretly Working For The RNC?

Today we have back to back examples that show how desperation leads to stupidity. Although I am sure that any number of you could point out how the stupidity was always there.  Anyhoo, let’s start with this MoveOn ad (H/T to HotAir):

A series of new MoveOn.org radio advertisements looks like they could backfire, big-time.

The liberal group is up with ads against six House Republicans attacking them for their support of offshore drilling. Problem is: most of the targets represent energy-rich districts where drilling is viewed favorably, to put it mildly.

One target, Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), represents a west Texas district where the discovery of oil in the 1940s created wealth throughout the region, and the energy industry has since dominated the region’s economy.

And four of the six GOP targets hold heavily Republican seats and aren’t even facing credible challengers this election.

The ad targets: Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), and Reps. John Culberson (R-Texas), Mary Fallin (R-Okla.), Mike Pence (R-Ind.), Mike Conaway (R-Texas) and Jon Porter (R-Nev.)

Already one Democratic challenger (who is a wind energy businessman), Michael Skelly, immediately condemned the ads. Skelly is a credible contender running against Culberson in a conservative-minded suburban Houston district filled with energy industry employees.

Skelly, in fact, has already called for Congress to lift the ban on offshore drilling.

“MoveOn’s opposition to drilling is 100% wrong, and so is John Culberson’s opposition to investment in renewable energy,” said Skelly. “Houstonians want honest solutions to our energy challenges. Drilling for oil is a crucial component of a balanced energy plan, and I strongly support it.”

The National Republican Congressional Committee also wasted no time in responding to the ads.

We wholeheartedly endorse this colossal waste of funds,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain. “Not only is MoveOn.org’s anti-drilling position out of step with 70 percent of Americans, but a member like Mike Conaway who represents the Texas oil patch will probably see his approval rating surge upward as a result of these ads.”

Nice going Soros. Keep up the good work.  One of the people you tried to help supports the drilling.  The drilling offers jobs, just as the various renewable energy sources will offer jobs.  Wouldn’t it be great if one of these geniuses from MoveOn could figure out on their own, that by persuing both sources of energy, old and new,  a greater number of people will be employed?  What could be better than that?

Now lets take a look at what See-Dubya calls a counterproductive leftist campaign:

Nearly 10,000 of the biggest donors to Republican candidates and causes across the country will probably receive a foreboding “warning” letter in the mail next week.
:

Led by Tom Matzzie, a liberal political operative who has been involved with some prominent left-wing efforts in recent years, the newly formed nonprofit group, Accountable America, is planning to confront donors to conservative groups, hoping to create a chilling effect that will dry up contributions.

“We want to stop the Swift Boating before it gets off the ground,” said Mr. Matzzie, who described his effort as “going for the jugular.”

The warning letter is intended as a first step, alerting donors who might be considering giving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.

As See-Dubya pointed out, Accountable America would be far more alarming, by the way, if they were smarter:

:anonymity is a potential obstacle to the group’s efforts. Outside political groups organized as 501(c)4 entities, including Accountable America, do not have to disclose the names of their donors.

The counterculture has proven themselves counterproductive!

  2. Interesting concept, but I think the real answer is that they are Liberals, and so are mentally ill and do absurd things because they are unable to connect reality with their fantasy. Liberals are unable to logically extrapolate and understand the real-world effects of things they advocate in their fantasy land. That’s part of their fundamental orientation. So even though it can be argued and shown that many of their actions have the opposite effect of what they intend, I don’t think it indicates a secret conspiracy, a secret disinformation/disaction campaign. I think there’s far too much evidence establishing otherwise.

They are just illogical and unable to match up reality with their utopian fantasies. And they are seriously mentally ill to one degree or another.
