Surprise: Pelosi suddenly open, sort of, to a vote on drilling

She just doesn’t get it does she?  We just bailed out the housing and banking industries to the tune of $300 Billion, and this clown learned nothing from the moral of the story….

“They have this thing that says drill offshore in the protected areas,” Pelosi said. “We can do that. We can have a vote on that.”

She indicated such a vote would have to be part of a larger package that included other policies, like releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which she said could bring down prices in a matter of days.

“But it has to be part of something that says we want to bring immediate relief to the public and is not just a hoax on them,” Pelosi continued.

She even indicated that she might support a package that includes drilling. She said her decision on whether to support such legislation would depend on how the policies are packaged.

“It’s not excluded, let’s put it that way,” Pelosi said.

Some people call that ‘thing’ a vote on a bill.   And the hoax will be on all of us, when we release the reserves and have nothing to fall back on.  What better time to do it?

And, of course, with war in the Caucasus threatening energy supplies, this is the perfect time to short the US’s strategic reserve, intended to ensure our military operations around the world.  Brilliant!

Robert is correct.  She is mentally ill!

To give you an idea of the housing bailout:

“I’m glad it’s done,” Gardner said wearily. “I just want to sit down and have some Hennessy.”

Joann’s parents, Johnnie Gardner, 87, and Estelle, 88, bought the two-bedroom in the Sobrante Park neighborhood in 1954 for $11,500. His salary as an electrician at the Oakland naval shipyard allowed them to make the payments.

But in recent years, Joann and her brother refinanced it several times for increasingly larger amounts.

The final refinance at the end of 2006 left the family owing $454,000. The monthly payments of $3,362 exceeded the household income of $3,144.

What happened to the money from all the refinances?

Gardner can’t quite say. Some went to paying off credit cards; some was eaten up in huge loan fees. What is clear is that the family has not made a mortgage payment since December 2006.

  1. Let’s see… Drilling which will increase supply and eventually reduce prices permanently is a hoax. While releasing an amount from the strategic oil reserve that will be nominal at best (the reserve isn’t big enough to make a significant dent in the price for more than a short time) is a plan for energy independence in the future? Someone really needs to sue her plastic surgeon for malpractice. He obviously pulled the skin too tight and it’s effecting her ability to think straight. Either that or she’s incompetent or a liar.

  2. Not sure if any of you’ve seen this reference -

Al Gore specifically mentioned nuclear as part of the solution (way to go, Al!!). This doesn’t seem to be picked up by the rest of the crowd.
I’m for the “all of the above” solution.
