Gateway Pundit: Figures. Michelle Obama Quotes Lines From “Rules For Radicals” In Her DNC Convention Speech

Gateway Pundit has the story, which Rush picked up on today:

What to make of Michelle Obama’s use the terms, “The world as it is” and “The world as it should be?” From whence do they originate? Try Chapter 2 of Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals. In last night’s speech, Michelle Obama said something that peeked my curiousity. She said:
“Barack stood up that day,” talking about a visit to Chicago neighborhoods, “and spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about “The world as it is” and “The world as it should be…”

And, “All of us driven by a simple belief that the world as it is just won’t do – that we have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be.”Here’s an excerpt from Chapter 2 of Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals:
“The means-and-ends moralists, constantly obsessed with the ethics of the means used by the Have-Nots against the Haves, should search themselves as to their real political position. In fact, they are passive ” but real ” allies of the Haves:The most unethical of all means is the non-use of any means… The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.

Rush had this to say on the subject:

Now, some of you are saying, “Rush, why are you obsessing?”  I’m not obsessing.  “Why are you spending so much time on Michelle and parsing it and picking it apart?”  Well, ladies and gentlemen, two things, maybe even more.  One, I’ve always come behind the microphone on this program and shared with you my passions.  And as you know, all of us or most of us in this audience have a vested interest in the United States of America remaining the kind of country it was as founded, with the rule of law and individual freedom and liberty, pursuit of happiness, all of these things, capitalism, free markets.  They’re genuinely under assault.  They’re under assault not just by a guy running for president.  They’re under assault by an entire political party and a class, a political class of leftists who are everywhere, including in the Drive-By Media.  They seek power to deny others liberty.  They may think they’re doing it all for the common good, but they pose a great threat to me for the future of this country as we know it and as you would like for it to remain for your kids and your grandkids, and their kids and grandkids.

  1. Not surprising. After all, these are Communist/Socialist people.

Change! Change we can believe in! :o ):(|)3:-o Uh-huh…

  2. Speaking of First Lady Michelle Obama: Michelle Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in her heart and mind she inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush. George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog). George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes. And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention. Many people know what Bush did. And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world. Bush was absolute evil. Bush is now like a fugitive from justice. Bush is a psychological prisoner. Bush has a lot to worry about. Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time. In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy. BUSH IS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY” BLOG OF ANDREW YU-JEN WANG _____________________ I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
