When Laws Are Enforced: American Citizens Lining Up To Do The Work Illegal Aliens Were Doing

And here we have been that these are jobs that American’s won’t do.  Look what happens when we enforce our laws and make the jobs unavailable to the illegal alien:

Howard Industries found itself at the center of activity again Tuesday.

Hundreds of job applicants lined up, eager to take advantage of the sudden job openings at the plant located in Jones County, where the unemployment rate is 6.3 percent.

ICE agents on Monday seized 595 plant workers suspected of being in the country illegally. Several workers, who did not identify themselves, said Tuesday they were working and trying to keep the plant operational in the wake of the sudden loss of co-workers.

They said it was common knowledge many of their co-workers were suspected to be illegal.

It’s an idea that maddens Samantha Stevens, 18, of Heidelberg, who was among those who pulled up to Avenue A across from the plant’s entrance throughout the day. She said she has been unable to find a job since she graduated from Heidelberg High School in the spring and blames, in part, the willingness of companies to hire illegal workers.

“We were here first. It’s not fair for them to have a job,” she explained.

Others welcomed the vacancies left by the detained workers.

Gwendolyn Watkins, 40, of Stonewall said she drove 40 miles to Laurel to fill out an application with the electronics maker. She worked at Tower Automotive in Meridian as a production worker for eight months before job cuts in June left her unemployed.

She now hopes to get on at Howard, and said that, while “everyone needs a job,” she believes that legal workers should be the priority.

595 jobs available or 595 illegal aliens, depending upon how you look at it,  and that is just one business!  Tammy Bruce, back in 2006, reported on

the Colorado Swift raids, and how Americans lined up for those jobs as well!  Americans will do these jobs as they were their jobs first.

  1. Yet another lie and myth propagated by the pro-illegal crowd falls. But they just won’t give up.

  2. Geez, just enforce the present laws on the books and we’d be all right. Tell Mr. Bush to send his guest work program packing as we already have two. Those of us who worry about expansion of government and the resultant tax hikes to pay for it want to see the engine fixed, not a chrome exhaust added.
Blame both sides for this one!!!

  3. It would be too much for them to explain to the sheep that the jobs that the illegals have, once were done by an American citizen. So it’s easier to complain that all the jobs are going to Mexico!

  4. It is a fact that as illegal immigration went up the past two thirty years or so, unemployment has remained the same or gotten lower. Americans have not lost jobs to illegal immigrants. Our economy has expanded, by 12 million jobs or so, the number of illegal immigrants. So it’s not that Americans “won’t do” these jobs, it’s that in these years of prosperity Americans haven’t had to do these jobs, have in fact been enabled to go after better jobs. Are we giving up now? Are we saying, “illegal immigrants leave now, because we can’t do any better?” What a shame.

  5. should be “the past thirty years or so”.

  6. The facts are that many of these jobs would be filled by American citizens if the companies are not able to hire illegal aliens. A recent study in Arizona showed that the state has lost hundreds of million in lost wages to illegal aliens and they have caused wages to be depressed over half a billion more on an annual basis. They also cost the US taxpayer almost three times as much in benefits than they pay into the system in taxes. These are jobs Americans will do, they just won’t do them for starvation wages like the illegal aliens. The illegal aliens violate the housing laws by living 3 and 4 times or more the legal limit to a house or apartment. It’s not too hard to pay your bills when you have 6-8 people sharing a two bedroom apartment.
