UPDATED..Obama Claims He Is More Experienced Than Palin Because He Is Running For President..UPDATE: No major revelations in 2006 Democratic Research on Palin

By: Pam On: Sep/2/08 -

UPDATE:

Sarah Palin may be new to most Americans, but she’s not entirely new to the national Democratic Party.

Democrat Tony Knowles, her opponent in the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial race, put together a detailed, 63-page research document ” obtained by Politico ” cataloging Palin’s strengths and weaknesses. And the Obama campaign, in particular, knows Palin well: A key Obama consultant, Anita Dunn, worked on Knowles’ campaign.

He avoids the fact that she was the Mayor Wasila of but is now the Governor of Alaska. Okay, based on his answer, he still needs reminding that running for office doesn’t give him executive experience. He does not run the campaign, he has a staff that handles every single minute of his day, and every detail of the campaign from his fund raising, finances, logistics, hire/fire staff, appointments, to interviews etc., etc. What he does not do, as Ed points out, is operate a $9 billion budget, or manages $13 billion in revenue. Furthermore, she runs a government that employs 25,000 people, whereas, he only oversees his top management. He does not oversee disaster relief, as a Governor does. In all fairness to Obama, he would be a fool to try and assume the same types of responsibilities that she has. He has one goal and a limited window to accomplish that goal. No presidential contender could be expected to do that. Why does he not acknowledge her actual position in this interview with Anderson Cooper:

AC: Some Republican critics say, you don’t have the experience to handle a situation like this [Hurricane Gustav]. They’ve in fact said that Governor Palin has more executive experience as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state like Alaska. What’s your response?

BO: Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we’ve got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I’ve passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.

As expected, the McCain campaign has responded

“For Barack Obama to argue that he’s experienced enough to be president because he’s running for president is desperate circular logic and it’s laughable. It is a testament to Barack Obama’s inexperience and failing qualifications that he would stoop to passing off his candidacy as comparable to Governor Sarah Palin’s executive experience managing a budget of over 10 billion dollar dollars, and more than 24,000 employees.” “Tucker Bounds, spokesman John McCain 2008

Again with ignoring the fact that she’s the damn governor of the state - - what is WITH that? I realize they’ve decided to push her has the ‘former mayor of’ in order to make her sound woefully incompetent to be Vice President - - but it is backfiring. It makes them sound incredibly sexist by blatantly ignoring the accomplishments AND experience of this very competent and intelligent woman. Who is handling this guy??

I am not joking when i say that I really do believe that the Democrats have tried to make it sound like they are for woman’s rights or equal rights, but the reality of the situation looks different. Could the abortion support have just been a political ploy to get a vote ;) See gals, we support you, you can be anything you want to be as long as it is not in too high of an office, oh and by the way, we support you uterus:)>-

haha - so true! It certainly seems like Democrats really don’t want women in this country to attain that equality they’ve always been so outwardly supportive of. All these years they’ve talked that talk… however, when faced with the reality, they can’t walk the walk!

Again just would like to point out the irony of you complaining about calling her the mayor and ignoring her governorship, and yet spouting about the “something or other coordinator” that you all seem so proud of thinking up……

Fred, I’m an atheist, so that won’t work :) My outrage, as you say, is well placed..it’s pretty ridiculous the way they attempt to belittle her.

..and I think what you mean is “Community Organizer”, which isn’t made up at all, Fred - it’s what Obama was before he was in office. I said I would refer to him as “Community Organizer, Obama” for as long as they continue to refer to her as “former Mayor, Sarah Palin”.

I know, Fred - it’s all so beneath you ;)

I had some interesting conversations this week. There are a lot of women that feel that way Lisa.

Being that Obama had scarcely been a Senator long enough to be able to find his office every day before starting to run for POTUS, then was AWOL most of the time he has technically served in the Senate, I’d say calling him the “Community Organizer” is quite appropriate.

    :o

Just when you thought Obama couldn’t get any dumber…

Well, I guess McCain should thank Obama for giving him such a nice soundbyte. Here’s hoping the Maverick and company make good use of it.

As for Obama knocking Palin’s own accomplishments, I think it’s understandable really. After all, aren’t many of us jealous of someone when they have something we don’t? In this case - Palin has actual accomplishments, Obama doesn’t. :d

remember you don’t have to be an ass just because others are, you can if you choose rise above that, and you will all sound a little more relevent.

BO may be able to govern if he surrounds himself with the right people… But he won’t. He will surround himself with the same type of people that he has had in his life for the last 20 years - Socialist and others that hate this country.

The press is doing its usual “Holy cow, I didn’t see that coming” routine. The experience thing can get overtated very quickly. JM has many years of experience, yet I don’t think he’s the right leader at this point. He banks way too much on his military background “I know how to win wars” (note the Brig Gen star on his logo) and not enough of his ability to run a campaign (was in the red most of the time). Not that I’m doing any handsprings for Obama, but as long as JM is looking like the one-trick pony, I can’t get him my vote.
