Breaking: Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick(D) resigns in deal with prosecutors.
That is the breaking headline at the WSJ
DETROIT – Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will plea guilty to two felony charges Thursday, ending the two-term mayor’s tenure in office and the city’s six-month municipal scandal.
Wayne County Court prosecutors said the agreement included 120 days in jail, a payment of $1 million and probation for five years. He will resign office.
The mayor’s troubles began in January when the Detroit Free Press published text messages between Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, that appeared to contradict their sworn testimony in a trial last year that they didn’t have an affair. In March, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Mr. Kilpatrick with multiple felony charges including perjury.
Mr. Kilpatrick’s legal saga has captivated much of the city. He had to spend one night in jail last month for violating terms of his bond after which he was ordered to wear an electronic tether that was just removed Tuesday. Michigan Attorney General Michael Cox added two felony charges against the mayor for assaulting a police officer who was seeking to deliver a subpoena.

Well, for 58 years the Dems have controlled the city of Detroit and they have run it into the ground. The city government of Detroit is a joke and the poor people of Detroit suffer. The Dems use the poor and keep them dependent on the government tit just like a crack dealer.
Unfortunately for them, they will never elect a conservative because they believe the lies that we don’t care for the poor.

Detroit used to be a beautiful city that was prosperous until Coleman Young took it over in 1974. He was the epitony of a racist. Integration was and is necessary, but if one is going to do that, one should make sure that those being integrated are qualified to do the job. You don’t throw white businesses out and not have black businesses lined up that can survive and keep the people employed. He and Jesse had something in common. Both saw nothing wrong with lining their own pockets off the blood and sweat of those they claimed to want to help.
I have to go over to that area next week for a doctors appointment and I dread it.

It’s such a shame. It’s so full of corruption. Can you imagine what the city would look like without the Illich family? No Tigers, Redwings, Fox theater…
It would take someone like Palin to clean it up. She was SO incredible last night!
