BOO HOO: Palin Smearing Baltimore Sun Columnist Whines Readers Being Mean to Her
To give you an idea of just how awful her column was, I will share this personal story with you. The column was picked up and published in our local paper here in Michigan. I know this because my husband stormed my office and demanded that I blog about this bleep. Bleeping bleep he said to me..I asked what she said to have him so angry, to which he read this aloud:
“You want to look good to the evangelicals? Choose a running mate with a Down syndrome child.”
A sentence of bleeps would be necessary for me to share what I said to that. Instead, I will share her response to the negative response she received:
The things that were said about me, my personal appearance and my children - as well as Barack Obama - were beyond the bounds of decency, and many were said in language that might only be seen in a bathroom stall.
Generally, the comments were not made behind the veil of anonymity the Internet can provide. The writers signed their names. And they revealed what I think has become the bare-knuckles nature of our national conversation.
So much pent-up anger, so much barely concealed hate was released in those e-mails and those postings. I wonder where next they will find a vent.
It is still two months until the presidential election. Things could get really rough out there.
Let’s see, she claims the responses were angry yet she can’t figure it out. In the above quote, she insulted Evangelicals and Down’s Syndrome babies, but the column is filled with more targets she to aim at:
So. This is what being pandered to feels like… John McCain picked Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska and mother of five, to be his running mate to woo women like me.
and
Does McCain think we will be so grateful for a skirt on the ticket that we won’t notice that she’s anti-abortion, a member of the NRA and thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution?
His selection of Sarah Palin is insulting on so many levels that I am starting to feel like the Geico caveman.
and
(When James Dobson, the conservative Christian radio host who fancies himself a kingmaker, jumped up to say that the selection of Palin means he can now “pull the lever” for John McCain, I almost felt sick. I don’t know what I’ll do if she trots out the story of her 5-month-old baby to shore up the Republican base.)
and
She makes John McCain, Naval Academy graduate, fighter pilot and prisoner of war, look like just another grouchy, old, rich white guy… Oh. Right. He is.
So much pent-up anger, so much barely concealed hate was released in that column. Now take a look at her bio
Susan Reimer has been a columnist for The Sun since July 1993 when, after 14 years covering sports, she was asked to write about life as a wife and the working mother of school-aged children. Her column appears on Sundays and Tuesdays.
A collection of work, “Motherhood is a Contact Sport,” was published in May, 1998.
Warner has more, but adds this:
I have to ask: don’t you see the hatred that you expressed for this woman? Don’t you see that your snide comments about her Down Syndrome child and your abhorrence with every American that votes Republican — which is half the electorate, by the way — just might raise a bit of ire out there? Can you really be so shocked that your spittle specked rage was met with a bit of resistance?
If not, well, you really aren’t as smart as you might like to imagine.

I wrote this spoiled elitist back. She’s mad because she can’t take what she dishes out. If I were an editor at the Sun, I’d be reevaluating having so many columinists in the tank for Obama and jettison a few before the people demand a real Fairness Doctrine for newspapers.

Susan Reimer sounds like a typical mentally-ill Liberal. She views everything that happens through a filter constructed by her own addled mind. McCain picked Palin as a running mate just to appeal to women like reimer? Puhhhlease….Perhaps McCain picked Palin, a SOLID Conservative with a REAL record of achievement, to shore up his own reputation as a Maverick, as a doer, and to appeal to the Conservative base of the republican party? Just maybe? But an idiot like Reimer automatically places her own importance high up on the list.
Sorry, Reimer, you’re just a little Boll Weevil. You really don’t rate. I doubt you score many points with your Sun column anyway. It’s probably just another little turdball in a sea of Democrite excrement.

Whinny liberal columists for some worthless liberal news rag i mean its like after when a judge stikes down some gun ban law the usial columists making their rediculous predictions like rivers of blood flowing through the streets its like the predictions made when KENISHAW GEORGIA passed a gun in every home and the NYTs vulture went down to georgia looking for a feast and starved to death instead

What really struck me about this article was that it was so full of jealous rage. You know when we women get mad, we get mad.
And of course this liberal fool would like to very much have seen Governor Palin murder her down syndrome child - it would fall in with her liberal philosophy. And how dare this eloquent lady enter a beauty contest because her school teacher parents couldn’t afford college tuition for five kids? I ask you? What value is that teaching?
Sarah Palin rocks and frankly I can’t wait to see her debate the senator from Delaware.
Obama and the libbies are running scared.
Go McCain/Palin!!!!!

To be honest, I read her shock and horror reaction and laughed a bit! It would be like me writing a post like that response article, because I got my feelings hurt when SFL or NY-David or especially, Ellis, thought I was bitchy..I mean come on! She dished it out but couldn’t take a negative reaction..
