No, it isn't a gaffe, it is stupidity and he isn't allowed to make gaffe. He is supposed to be smart and making a gaffe is something a dumb person would do. Those are your rules, now live by them.

When you cite the other portion, I will answer it. It seems that you are now into garbage collection. Everything piece of garbage the left throws out, you quickly pick up and run with it.

Saying there are 57 states is gaffe; we all know that. Speaking as an authoritative source on issues she does not understand is not a gaffe, but a fraud.

Oh, and I understand that $25 million of the funds from the bridge to nowhere that Barbie Dollso smartly used were devoted to a road to nowhere (it begins nowhere and ends at the base of what had been proposed for the site of the bridge to nowhere). Might the "reformer" gov of AK been angling to get those bridge funds in a later Congress? Just conjecture about the later funds.

I do give you guys credit for religiously muttering the same lies over and over and over until the lemmings absorb it, and conclude it must be true. The base doesn't think on its own too much.

Yes, yes ellis! Why any gaffe by Obama (and they have been so bad and so numerous they make Bush look like a skilled orator) is understandable, and not really a gaffe at all! Yes, yes! But when any Republican or Conservative makes a gaffe, well, now that's completely different!! Yes, Yes!!!

Come on, Pam. BO quoted 57 (I think) which is the number of governmental entities that had votes at the DNC. We both know he knows the number of states. And, I'm sure he knows what committees, etc. he is on. Are we going to stoop to a level wherein any slip of the tongue is fuel? Not me. And, yes, I do think Sarah's gaffe re: Freddie and Fannie was not a slip of the tongue, but an actual lack of knowledge. Given her relative inexperience, one of the strengths being proffered has been her economic ability especially as McC stated he doesn't know much about the economy.

BTW, I was waiting for you guys to tie Obama's 57 state comment to Heinz 57 and Kerry. Would have been cute. Oh, well. Speaking of Heinz, I need to dine. Ciao.

New York Sen. Charles Schumer (D), chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, has said that "it would be devastating to the economy" if Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac went under. If they need additional support, he said, "the federal lifeline has always been there."

I cringe to think that the top man on your ticket isn't even aware of how many states make up The United States Of America. I cringe to think that the top man on your ticket doesn't even know what committees he is on, let alone chairs!

Pam, the original line of debate re: Freddie and Fannie was that Sarah did not know the source of funding, and don't tell me she was referring to bailout money. She was clueless. I cringe to think that someone so ill-informed on a host of issues might end up as VP.

"He is a lobbyist:I chuckled when Obama introduced Biden and on that very day he said that he would get rid of all lobbyists =))

And don't act like that didn't make you chuckle."

Fair enough, Pam. I didn't know. Just as I didn't know that one of McCain's sons was (he resigned just before it hit the fan) a director of a failed bank. Must run in the family. Wasn't McCain involved with failed bank(s) in the past?

And this is good:

Fannie Mae has a unique duty to the public it serves -- and the private investors that fuel its service -- to be a model company focused on service, reliability, and value.

I loved this question/answer at the Freddie Mac site:

9) Does Freddie Mac pose financial risk to American taxpayers?

No. Many independent, formal studies – conducted by government agencies and private rating agencies – confirm that Freddie Mac is adequately capitalized and manages its business risks well. Freddie Mac's obligations and securities do not constitute government debt and are not guaranteed by the Federal government.

Be very careful on where your argument leads with regards to this bailout because instead of it being a Republican eyesore, it has (D)'s all over it...
