Now why would Charles Rangel(D-NY) withdraw his divorce on the same day he came clean on his Dominican Republic tax dodge?
In case you are not aware of who Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) is, let me fill you in. He is the Chairman of the committee that helps set the nation’s tax policy. So, Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) now says that he owes the IRS $5,000 in back taxes after failing to report investment income from his Punta Cana villa:
Representative Charles B. Rangel said on Wednesday that “cultural and language barriers” had hindered him from understanding the finances of his Dominican Republic beach house, and vowed to repay several thousand dollars in federal taxes he owes after failing to report $75,000 in rental income from the villa…..
….“Every time I thought I was getting somewhere, they’d start speaking Spanish,” Mr. Rangel said.
The explanation was greeted with skepticism and surprise by some people in his district, where Spanish is the primary language in nearly half the households and even Mr. Rangel’s own Congressional Web site can be instantly translated to Spanish with just two clicks of a computer mouse.
The penalties and procedures for paying taxes are spelled out in English. The fact that the man withdrew his divorce against his wife of 42 years on the same day he came clean on his Dominican Republic tax dodge, leads me to believe that some colleagues of his are worried about this.
If you remember, Charlie was told that there was no room for him to speak, yet that night, Illinois’ State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias addressed the DNC, talking about his “friend and mentor”, Barack Obama, and calling for “a new type of leadership.” Once people realized that a mob sullied Chicago politician was given speaking time, they found some time for Charlie. Do you think the DNC and or the Democratic leadership knew this was coming?
Just to recap this, we have the
- Chairman of the committee that helps set the nation’s tax policy, breaking the tax laws.
- Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs tied heavily to the Countrywide Mortgage fiasco
- In 2006, As part of the Fannie Mae reform bill, House Democrats pushed an “affordable housing trust fund” designed to use Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac profits to subsidize Acorn, among other groups.
- Fannie’s fraudulent accounting scheme was made public in 2004 Yet Democrats Pushed Nationalization: A Solution for Housing?
The most ethical Congress my ass! It is no wonder that the Battle for Congress Suddenly Looks Competitive ” Democrats’ double-digit lead on the “generic ballot” slips to 3 points
When asked for Comment, here was Pelosi’s reaction:
