The Essence of Conservatism as Outlined by Abe Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln is in the Top 5 of the greatest American Presidents, imo. The following are his words of wisdom that I believe quite thoroughly yet concisely sum up the fundamental philosophical difference between Conservatives and Liberals:
You cannot help the poor by destroying the  rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
Liberalism seeks to do all of the things described above. That is why it fails, it is a failure, and 40 years+ of rampant Liberalism have left our Nation socially degraded. It is the duty of all Americans who considers themselves a Patriot to reject and fight Liberalism.
Barack Obama seeks to do all of the above. He promises it, be projects it. He calls an accelerated version of the mistakes that have already been made “change we can believe in”.
Your change, Mr. Obama, means racing down the wrong path instead of walking down it. I want change all right… a change of course back to the ideals and principles and truths that founded America and made it great!

Thanks; I thought it was especially appropriate now since the Obama campaign is trying to focus, to get back to their message. Well their message of change is what Lincoln counsels NOT to do.
