CONFIRMED BY OBAMA CAMPAIGN….On Obama:tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence. Wanted It To Be After The Election!!!

LONG VIEW: Barack Obama tours Iraq with Gen. David Petraeus in July, when he sought to stall any agreement for US troop withdrawal until President Bush left office.
UPDATE
bama responded by essentially confirming Taheri’s account:
In the New York Post, conservative Iranian-born columnist Amir Taheri quoted Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari as saying the Democrat made the demand when he visited Baghdad in July, while publicly demanding an early withdrawal.
“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview, according to Taheri.
“However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open,” Zebari reportedly said. :
Obama’s national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said Taheri’s article bore “as much resemblance to the truth as a McCain campaign commercial.”
In fact, Obama had told the Iraqis that they should not rush through a “Strategic Framework Agreement” governing the future of US forces until after President George W. Bush leaves office, she said.

He wanted it to be after the election. He tried and failed to play politics with the troops, the Iraqis, and a war!
WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops – and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion.”
“However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open.” Zebari says.
Though Obama claims the US presence is “illegal,” he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the “weakened Bush administration,” Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate.
While in Iraq, Obama also tried to persuade the US commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to suggest a “realistic withdrawal date.” They declined.

Considering the fact that Obama’s spokesperson confirmed it in the text of her denial, how could it not be true? How can someone with a straight face call Zebari a liar with one breath and then agree with his statement in the next.
For that matter, for a supposed Constitutional Law professor, Obama sure lacks a basic understanding of it. He was advocating that Congress be involved in the negotiations concerning the withdrawal of troops. Perhaps he needs to take a closer look at both Article I and Article II of the Constitution. Article I lays out the duties and responsibilities of the Legislative Branch. (CONGRESS and the SENATE) Article II defines the duties and responsibilities of the Executive branch (that’s the President, but seeing as Obama has no executive experience he might not realize that.) Negotiating ANYTHING with a foreign power is NOT part of the duties or responsibilities of the Legislative branch. It is the SOLE responsibility of the Executive branch to negotiate all treaties with foreign powers and the SENATE’s (not Congress, the SENATE’s) responsibility to ratify them. It was set up this way so that only ONE person (or their representative) would be responsible for negotiating treaties as committees are known for their inability to actually accomplish much in a timely manner. The Senate is required to ratify the treaties as a check to prevent the President from selling off our liberties for personal gain. It is a genius of a system.

The Left doesn’t care at all about the Constitution. At least not the one written by our Founders.
They have their own version: the Konstitution.

This young man is far wiser than Obama, or the combined Leadership of the Democrite Party.
What an insult it would be to our troops to elect Obama as their CIC! Any Democrite, for that matter. We say, gee thanks for doing a great job, then dishonor them by placing someone who has no affinity, no affiliation, and no understanding of them or their mission as their CIC and who has publicly undermined them.
What a grave insult!
