As Ed said, “Julius Caesar was the first Roman to put his image on coins, which started his downfall. Barack Obama may be the first person in history to start striking coins in his image before taking power”
The coins already sold to the Democrats will be presented to the senators, congressmen, governors and other politicians they are being given to within the next two weeks.
There will also be a television advertising campaign launched in the US.
The company directors got the idea of producing the coins after seeing actress Meryl Streep talking about Barack Obama on a television programme.
When they got in touch with the Democrats the party jumped at the chance. And the coins have proved such a hit that locally produced versions have already been launched to compete with the UK originals.
The coins show Senator Obama’s face, along with a picture of the White House and the legend “President of the United States of America”.

I’m sorry - but does anyone know where it states, whether on their site: or anywhere else that these coins were commissioned by Obama and/or the DNC?

You can to this conclusion based on the use of latin and the columns set at the DNC, right? Because I know you never came to this based on the coin.. considering Cesaer minted his own coins, with his image.. whilst Obama and/or the DNC has not.

Actually Patrick, I got the idea about Obama being the Messiah to the religious Left from their actions and words over the last 9 months. As far as him being Caesar, the parallels are just too striking with this coin issue. Regardless of who decided to strike the coins, the image that creates is unmistakable.

Over the last few days there has been a lot of media coverage concerning the Obama Gold Coin, which was first minted in Birmingham, England. We, (Winston, Elizabeth and Windsor) created the coin, as a piece of art and a symbol for hope and change.
Winston, Elizabeth and Windsor (WEW) were the first and original company to create and found the concept of a Barack Obama Presidential Coin. The Barack Obama Presidential coin is no longer a coin or an illusion, it is a piece of art; described by those that have seen it, as Slick, Sexy, Elegant and Daring!
These are not our words but the comments of world renowned movie stars and politicians ranging from Madonna and Barbra Streisand, Tony Blair, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Barbra Berlusconi, the daughter of the Italian Prime Minister.
Most recently the Barack Obama coin was unveiled in Italy were it received an overwhelming reception; considered by most, as an iconic symbol for peace and change. This idea of peace and change gathered further momentum, as one was personally requested by a member of the Vatican who stated ‘the race is now in the hands of god’.
On a more sombre note, we have recently received a lot of negative comments and ignorant feedback with regards to why the Barack Obama coin has been created in Birmingham, England. The reason is simple; the English silversmiths are the best coin makers in the world with over 300 year’s experience. Creating coins for the Royal family and other Monarchs; we believe the President of the United States deserves to be treated with the same respect and dignity. Further more; we would also like to add that with each coin sold an America charity will benefit directly with 20% of the proceeds being donated.
To conclude, we believe the Barack Obama coin represents peace, diplomacy and prosperity for the future, which is what this world is crying out for?

First of all he is not president. George Bush is and will be for a few more months. Second, the president of the United States is NOT a king but an elected official. Third, I believe most americans do not want the kind of change this man wants.
