Hmm, read carefully. It sounds like John McCain agrees with Obama that higher income earners should pay more taxes. I guess he is a closest socialist. Hmmm.

Hardball: Thursday, October 12, 2000:: Partial Transcript

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi. Since I've been studying politics, I've had this question that I've never fully understand. Why is it that someone like my father, who goes to school for 13 years, gets penalized in a huge tax bracket because he's a doctor? Why is that -- why does he have to pay higher taxes than everybody else, just because he makes more money? Why -- how is that fair?

MATTHEWS: You mean...

MCCAIN: I think your question -- questioning the fundamentals of a progressive tax system where people who make more money pay more in taxes than a flat, across-the-board percentage. I think it's to some degree because we feel, obviously, that wealthy people can afford more. We have over the years, beginning with John F. Kennedy, reduced some of those marginal tax rates to make them less onerous.

But I believe that when you really look at the tax code today, the very wealthy, because they can afford tax lawyers and all kinds of loopholes, really don't pay nearly as much as you think they do when you just look at the percentages. And I think middle-income Americans, working Americans, when the account and payroll taxes, sales taxes, mortgage pay -- all of the taxes that working Americans pay, I think they -- you would think that they also deserve significant relief, in my view...

MCCAIN: Do you want to follow up? Please...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I still don't see how the -- how that's fair. Isn't the definition of slavery basically where you work and all your money goes? I'm not saying this is slavery, I'm saying that isn't the defin -- are we getting closer and closer to, like, socialism and stuff, when you have -- you have some people paying 60 percent overall in a year of their money to taxes. That's their money, not the government's. How is that fair? I haven't understood it.
MCCAIN: Could I point out, one of the fundamentals of a town hall meeting is, we respect the views of others, and let them speak. So, look, here's what I really believe, that when you are -- reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more. But at the same time, that shouldn't be totally out of proportion. There's some countries such as Sweden where it doesn't pay anything to work more than six months a year. That's probably the extreme.
But I think the debate in this country is more about tax cuts rather than anything else. And frankly, I think the first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans with children that need to educate their children, and they're the ones that I would support tax cuts for first.

Joe Biden says the election of Obama may lead to a new conflict, terrorist attack, or a third war. A careful analysis of history says he may be correct.

Egreen. I do believe we all heard the tape where Obama claimed that he wanted to spread the wealth around because he felt it was better for everyone that way. That's not taking ANYTHING out of context. Obama's father was an avowed Marxist. He spent his teen years at the knee of a member of the US Communist party. He's a long time friend of two non repentent domestic terrorists who would be sitting in PRISON were it not for a legal technicality. He's closely associated with a RACIST black separatist minister and has been connected with a VIOLENT Kenyan politician who sparked violent tribal warfare in order to secure the prime minister's office in Kenya when he lost the election. Exactly what about this guy do you think makes him even remotely appealing as leader of the free world?

McCain is at it again, lying, taking statements out of context, and distorting the truth. This is a man who would do almost anything to win. What would he do if he did win? He doesn't get along with his own party. How could he get anything passed in Congress? He is a Lone Ranger, with his sidekick, Palin (who has no ties in Congress). She wouldn't be able to help him get anything passed. We need someone who can unite Congress to work for the good of our country.

Hmmmm A retired Naval officer who was on the Admiral's list (that's the list of Captains approved for promotion to Admiral) with over 20 yrs experience in the Senate, and a Governor for a state that has cut taxes, gotten rid of wasteful spending, AND has the HIGHEST constituent approval rating of any governor in the country (over 80%). Yes, I can see why they are soooooo inferior to a Senator with less than 180 days of actual work experience on the national scene, NO military experience and who's been actively involved with a non repentant domestic terrorist and a black separatist for over a decade and a Senator with major ethics issues including plagiarizing speeches and who's son is currently under investigation for involvement in a hedge fund fraud scandal.

No, Seira, the whole point is Joe is not better under Obama's plan. Joe's dream is to buy a business. With Obama's 14% payroll tax increase for those above $100,000, Joe will never realize his dream of running a successful, profitable business.

If Joe made $40,000, he would probably save $100 under Obama's plan. Is Joe's dream worth less than $100?

The problem with McCain/Palin in this election is that they are NOT credible at all! "Joe the plumber" turns out to be an unlicensed plumber who owes backtaxes and would actually make out far better under Senator Obama's plan than McCains. Everytime he shoots from the hip, he turns out to be wrong or misguided or dangerous. We do not nor, can we not, afford any more major mistakes like the present Bush/Cheney regime has so abundantly saddled us with!
