The Los Angeles Times reports:

According to court records, creditors have secured at least two liens against [Joe the Plumber] Wurzelbacher, whose legal name is Samuel. Ohio has a $1,182 lien for owed taxes and St. Charles Mercy Hospital has filed a 2007 lien for $1,261.

Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign, has tax liens. So do his companies.

“The impulse to learn more about Wurzelbacher is perfectly normal. Readers and viewers are no doubt want to know more about the man now that he is all over the news. I know I do. And speaking as a journalist, let me add that reporters should be curious enough to do some basic background research.

But why is it that political reporters only get curious when a conservative Joe America storms onto the scene? Why aren’t they just as curious when liberals trot out, say, a 12-year-old boy to give a national radio address?

It has been almost a year to the day since journalists dropped the ball on telling America more about Graeme Frost, the boy who made the case for sinking billions of dollars more into the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. But when Michelle Malkin and other curious conservative bloggers did the legwork the press wouldn’t, they earned the scorn of their mainstream colleagues.

This time around, with Joe The Plumber as their target, the MSM is coming out with guns blazing. Maybe they should spend more time telling the bigger story about Wurzelbacher ” that he managed to get Obama on the public record as favoring a socialistic redistribution of wealth.

    The Press needs to STOP investigating Joe the Plumber and START investigating Barack Obama.

    Nobamas own speechs bare out his troubling associations. Hannity was able to put on that show for that very reason.

    I do not know what is the big hipe on tax rates. IF riches pay 3% more they will not go broke. By the way who pays the full rate is the people take standard deduction. I am in 35% bracket and paid effectively 6% last year with business losses and real estate depreciatios. Those corporate boys use tax free cars, all trips are business realated and deducted. WHo are we kidding conservatives. Joe the plummer will never be able to buy that company under McCain plan. His taxes will be higher (he already has hard time keeping up)and he has to come up with health insurance money. Tax credit of $5000.00/year does not pay your dental insurance. Go out and try to get private insurance see how much it will cost. Especially if you have high collestrol, or diabetic. Listen to Warren Buffet, he says his secretary pays more taxes as a percentage of income than himself. I believe him. All these republicans are greedy. Like spoiled kids they want all to themselves and the poor ones are misguided like our Joe the Plumber. Wake up America see the realities behind the big lies.

    Has anyone noticed the resemblance between the the soft spoken and snake oil salesman like talk from Obama and the way that Hitler took over germany. This is very scary. I don’t trust slick talking people they always have something to hide. He has everyone buffaloed. People should check out the old videos of Hitler and compare them to Obama. Histry is repeating itself and that worries me the most.

    Obama supporters watch out.You might as well start signing your checks over to the IRS because it won’t just be Joe the Plumber paying them more…it will be you too. You know how I know that…spread the wealth. Look at the mess we are in. CLinton passed the housing bill in the 90’s. Frank, Dodd and Pelosi pushed housing for people who couldn’t afford to pay for it, then accepted money from the companies that made the bad loans. In their way, they were spreading the wealth around…and we are all going to pay for it. Who made out on this deal…corrupt govt officials…Frank, Dodd and their corrupt pals at FDMC, FNNMA & AIG. Proof that spreading the wealth around means to give it to govt thiefs…while they mock how hard you work and how little you earn.

    The IRS will be calling Joe the Plumber real soon…probably garnish his wages…but will they garnish Nesbitt…NO! He’s an Obama man. Another word and elitist, lying, uncaring, thief. Wake up everybody!!!

    inarticulate = what any Republican candidate is after one notable gaffe
    stupid = see inarticulate
    unqualified = What Sarah Palin is to be VP, but Obama is not even with no Executive Experience for President
    Bipartisanship = when the Democraps win
    Cooperation = see Bipartisanship
    Responsible = what Republicans are for anything that goes wrong, and what Democrites are whenever credit is to be taken even though it wasn’t their idea and they fought it (Welfare reform during the Klinton years, for example. The Democrites trying to warp the success in Iraq into something they can take credit for as another example).

    Thanks for the insightful blog Pam. I am so sick and tired of SNL, Late Night Talk and local news for their obvious slant towards Obama Hussein. Most of the liberals I work with are self righteous and totally intolerant of others unless it benefits them in some way. They are misinformed by celebs and the left wing media. One of the guys is from Hollywood so I guess he can’t help it. I have to give Joe a bit of sympathy. The media has really tried to bash this poor fella’s creditability by looking into his history just because he just so happened to ask Obama about his taxing policies. I’m surprised they haven’t posted his credit history, income, son’s name, wife’s full name and past relationships yet. By the way, my friend who just started his own plumbing company a year ago is in the six figure range unlike what the so called national averages I’ve seen on the news.

    How do you know that he won’t be able to afford the business? You have no idea. As for the deductions, that has no bearing on either candidates tax plan as that is in the IRS code and that would need to get modified, which I have never heard Obama say he was going to do.

    All businesses have to come up with operating costs.

    I know for a fact that the plumbing company I use is also in the mid 6 figures..Are they expensive? Probably, but they stand behind the work and they do not bull shoot you..

    One would think that Joe went looking for Obama, when in fact it was Obama that knocked on Joe’s door!

If anyone complains about paying high taxes they shoud consider making some donations. There are many poor Americans out there looking for help. That will reduce their taxes and keep their sanity. You think buying and running a business easy. Do you think Joe the Plummer will hit 250K annual income in his business in first year or in several years. You have no idea. The quick rich days are over. Thanks to conservative gready republicans, America lost all credibilty in financial arena. We used to control IMF and World Bank. Both will be in the Europe’s hand pretty soon. They are talking about new financial order in the world. Euro will be the currency of choice. Wait until then, you will be begging, when china starts dumping American Dollars. Elect another repulican to office, four year later you will beg to democrats to take over the country.

    Making donations? Why don’t you start with Obama and Biden:
    * Barack and Michelle Obama $200,000 and $300,000 a year between 2000 and 2004. To charity, they donated less than 1% of their income. In 2007, their income climbed to 4.2 million – their charity went up to 5%.
    * Joe and Jill Biden reported an adjusted gross income of $319,853. They gave $995 to charity – less than 0.3% of their income. Over the past decade, the Bidens reported $2,450,042 in income and gave $3,690 to charity ” or 0.1% of their income.

    As for us making donations, how do you know we don’t? Answer, you don’t. How will making a donation relieve the tax burden of poor Americans out there looking for help? Poor Americans don’t have a tax burden.

    Joe asked a question that could have easily been asked by any one of the 662,000 small business owners that do fall under the $250,000 income category. All will be punished by obama so that those behind them can share the wealth.

    You did accomplish something. You managed to open my eyes to how ignorant the left really is. You really have no idea what happened in the financial meltdown do you? How sad..

    Again, when you come out of your self induced coma..we can talk.

    Why would a man who makes $40,000 a year, who is either an unlicensed plubmer, or just a liar about his job, and who also owes $1,200 in taxes that resulted in a lien on his home, be pretending he’s going to “buy” a business that will cost between $250K=$280K?
    Also, make note Joe is a republican, who knew all alone who he was voting for. Also, note Joe ran up to Obama with his entire phony story. Joe sounds like a plant, but as usual McCain did not do his homework. McCain next time check the backgrounds better.
    Had Joe not been approaching Senator Obama with a phony story and phony background, I would feel sorry for him. I do not feel sorry for him because he was up to no good. Now, I would feel sorry for a regular citizen who asked a question and got their personal business blasted. Joe the plumber got jsut what he deserved. These tricks are becoming just chessy. I’m starting to wonder about the republican party. Why can’t Gov. Palin and Senator McCain spend their energy teling us what wonderful things they will do for the country? I’m starting to think these cheap tricks, lies, and exaggerations are all they have. I would appreciate it if they went out in style instead of all this race and ethnicity, and religion devides. Do people really believe Barack Obama is a Arab or Muslim? Do they really believe some of the lies Palin then are spreading, and do they not go look up facts themselves?     Please put the bong down. Where did the cost of buying the business come from? The $250,000 is the taxable rate for a small business that will be affected by the Obama tax plan…We have no idea what Joe would pay for the actual business.

    Common Sense, what kind of crap are you spouting out of your mouth? Here’s a little “common sense” for you. My friends who would be considered low income actually don’t pay all that much if any taxes. Whatever they think they paid ends up getting returned when they file their taxes. This is what I call poor man’s savings. I just so happen to be in the middle class and feel I’m getting taxed to death. I give 15-17% of my net income to charitable organizations. I have three children for a little bit more of a tax break and still struggle to itemize enough to break even at the end of the year. I don’t want Obama touching my money and funding his special interests. I’m all for Mccain’s proposal of upping my tax breaks for the kids and helping me pay for their insurance premiums. I pay out of pocket for my families health coverage and yes it hurts every month so some help will definitely be welcome. Two of my children have severe asthma and so does my wife. The privately owned company I work for is struggling at one of the facilities and bad. They can not afford to help us with a government mandated health coverage bill and more taxes. I’m sorry but most of what Obama proposes seems to push me down financially when I look past the rhetoric and fluff and more into the details.

This is nothing but a shameless attempt to manipulate public opinion via so called “debates”. “Joe the Plumber” aka Samuel (originally from Mesa AZ, and not a licensed plumber even) is a FRAUD. I agree – this “Joe the Plumber” was a “plant” who was, and always has been, a Republican, and probably always knew who he was going to vote for. Not an undecided voter. His attempt to mess Obama up is going to backfire big.

    Myself, I’d be extremely suspicious of anything coming out of Ohio. From what I’ve read and heard, the Republican Party there is very corrupt, and like to play dirty. Goes all the way back to the turn of the last century in fact, a long tradition. Most people don’t know who the Taft’s are, but I do.

I have no problem with the persons, I have problem with this Republican ideology that ruined this country from pre-emptive attack to Financial meltdown, fiscal irresponsibility. What happened with contract with America, small government? What we have now, spend, spend, not collect taxes, not promote scientific advancement and research that would create new inventions and products. You continue to take it on a fate and you will wake up at the front door to hell. But it will be too late, and I definitely do not want to be there with you.

    AND YOU CALIFORNIA DAD. Oh my god, I am sorry for you. Why don’t you read your pay stub carefully. Lets say you make 100K. and have 30% tax bracket. 15% donation (15K) will save 5000 in taxes. If you need more take home income your charity of choice is taking too much from you. I said make donation for those who do not need the extra cash. You will be better of paying that 5K taxes and helping American soldier that are dying for you in Irak than giving to your charity. And we have the Republican government for the last eight years. How could you not give taxes to them.

    Telling it, do not get me started on political corruption in Ohio. I grew up there. Google a congressman named Wayne L. Hayes. His house was down the road from my high school. He was the MULTI term congressman from the 18th congressional district. He was punted out of Congress for having his latest mistress on his congressional payroll despite her inability to type or file. She did do something involving the letters DIC but dictation wasn’t it. She was also being paid as a staffer for another member of Congress as well. His second wife was the secretary he’d been putting it to while married to his first wife. BTW he was a Democrat.

    I was speaking to a woman from Ohio the other day and she commented on how it didn’t matter which party it was, they both were corrupt in Ohio. Then there’s the 200,000 questionable registrations that the Dem Sec of State just got permission to avoid telling the counties are suspect and thereby prevent their eligibility to vote being challenged. Hint, it isn’t voter suppression if they aren’t eligible in the first place. That’s the same Dem Sec of State who tried to invalidate hundreds if not thousands of Republican requests for early voting. Let’s see who the real crooks are shall we? Refuse to validate over 200,000 questionable registrations but invalidate hundreds if not thousands of legitimate early ballots. We had 12 illegal aliens arrested for voting illegally here in Maricopa county last year, and that’s without even trying.

    BTW until Kathy Crumbley unseated the sheriff in Belmont County, the county sheriff was in bed with the local Mafia. After contending with her incompetence, the voters reelected the guy with mafia connections because he never had a problem with jail breaks from the 100+ yr old jail. The inmates all knew they’d never get out of the area before the mob would have them spotted and the deputies could come scoop them up. It was a rather symbiotic relationship. The Sheriff didn’t bust the mob’s brothels or slot machines, and they helped him find criminals. What a great county.

    BTW Joe has been enrolled in the Ohio State apprenticeship program long enough to get his license, they just haven’t received his paperwork yet. Hence, he is a plumber. He doesn’t have to pay $250k for the company at all. It might only be a two or three truck company and have a value of $50 – 60k at the moment. That doesn’t mean he can’t build it to over $250k, or that he can’t get an SBA loan to buy it either. Keep one thing in mind, Anheiser Busch only had one brewery and a couple of horse drawn delivery wagons at one point in time, GE only made power generation stations, and Ford only made Model Ts. Good companies GROW, that’s the result of owners with vision and a drive to succeed. Too bad so many liberals fail to understand Maslow’s Hierarchy of human motivation. They waste so much energy and potential trying to make humans into something they aren’t.

    McCain nailed it when he said why would you raise ANYBODY’s taxes now. In case you have figured this out: if you raise taxes on a business, they just pass it on to the consumer. Tax corporations and you pay higher food bills, gas bills, medical bills and even plumbing bills. So Obama’s tax increase affects us all.

    Anyway, how did he become the expert on Economics? When the budget doesn’t balance he’ll get on the phone and ask for more contributions?

    Lay off Joe the Plumber, what he owes is nothing compared to the New York politician who failed to report hundred thousands or Obama’s treasurer. So what if his name is not Joe, I think Obama’s name used to be Barry. He changed it to his advantage so the whites will be called racist. The problem is I would rather not have Obama spending my tax dollars towards HIS interests which don’t generally coincide with mine.

    Without even knowing my background you make a comment on the military? Shame on you. I am very passionate about our soldiers. My brother is a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine corp. and I have the utmost respect for him and his sacrifices. He has done 3 tours to Iraq for this country. In my line of work I try to take care of military personnel to the best of my ability.

    Before you talk, show me what you do to better the lives of others. I believe in self sacrifice for the better of others including those that don’t share my opinions and I do this without the fanfare or even a thank you at times. It’s called being a patriot.

    Since the Obama camp is making fun of Joe the Plumber and have worked hard to find dirt about him maybe it is time that the McCain camp find dirt on Shepard the Artist. Obama hand picked Shepard Fairey as his official campaign artist and has openly praised Shepard’s illegal activity and career. A career that has been built on violating the legal rights of other artists and visual rhetoric that promotes violence on the streets.

    Why on earth did Obama make him his official campaign artist? Obama actually sent Shepard a letter praising his career and his illegal activity, like putting Obama stickers on stop signs! So does that mean that Obama supports illegal activity that cost tax payers billions per year in city clean up? Why is the media not pointing this out? Obama refuses donations from Rezko but accepts $400,000 in donations from Obama merchandise from this thug?

    Shepard Fairey has made images of the White House burning in the past and images that depict President Bush being taken down. How is that not negative for this country? Better question, why does Obama praise Shepard’s career when it is been based on attacking this country and the government with visual rhetoric that is overly violent? Because he is a socialist. That is why. That is why Shepard keeps saying his work is more “positive”now. Bullocks!

    Shepard Fairey’s original HOPE image of Obama is not ‘original’. It is based off of a poster that another artist made of Che in the 60s. Shepard Fairey is a copyright violator and petty criminal. Look up Rene Mederos and the work that Shepard stole from him. He does not give anyone credit unless he is caught, or “busted” as he puts it. The only copyright Shepard Fairey acknowledges is his own.

    Obama has said great things about the arts and how he will fund art education and programs, but at what cost? His actions by hand picking Shepard Fairey to reperesent his campaign visually proves that he does not care about the rights of artists. Either that or he is too lazy to do a simple search for ‘Shepard Fairey’ online in order to find out who exactly this art thief and criminal is. The fact that Obama does not answer his artist supporters about his thoughts on the oprhan works bill also shows that he does not care about the rights of artists. He cares about art, but not about the rights of those who create it! That is socialism my friends!

    This is a very interesting blog, glad I stumbled on to it. Here are a few ideas for you to mull over.
    1- Most of you must not be Christians. The reason I say that is that you are not following Christ’s teachings. Although I am anything but a bible scholar I seem to remember a parable in the New Testament in which a rich young man asks Christ what he must do to enter heaven. Christ replied that he must give his wealth to the poor and follow him. The young man went away saddened because he was not about to give up his wealth and not enter heaven.
    2- Some of you want the Bush tax cuts to be permanent , well as far as I can see they are in force now and don’t seem to be doing any good ,why would that change in the future? I believe Einstein once said something to the effect that insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
    3- Another interesting thing is McCain’s opposition to a windfall profit tax on oil companies. That tax is one of the things which his VP running mate (Sara Palin)
    Fought for in Alaska. Thanks to her, the residents of Alaska receive a few thousand dollars each year which is a redistribution of wealth, so she must be a socialist or even worse, a Communist.
    4- As for the Joe the Plumber fiasco. McCain’s people seem to be grasping at straws.
    I understand that McCain admitted that he never talked to Joe much less being his friend. This shows how much credibility one can place on his accusations etc.
    Last but not least I understand that the far right is now mounting a campaign using a flyer trying to link Ayers to Obama. McCain keeps asking Obama to come clean on his involvement even though Obama has explained their interaction and it has been confirmed by investigators. This reminds me of the lead up to the Irac war when the Bush administration asked for Hussein to come clean on the WMDs. (Even though investigators from the UN, and other countries said over and over there weren’t any) Well we now know that there were no WMD and it was only a ploy to convince the people of the USA to support a war.
    Looks like the far right is using the same strategy again.

    To use an old saying “it’s the economy, stupid”seems to be appropriate now. If McCain can’t come up with a plan that will work and from what I have read he is wrong on most points. He should fold his tent and go home.

    Let me see if I got this straight: McCain and the Republicans want to make Joe the Plumber an election issue. That means they want the media to report what they say about him. However once McCain and the Republicans call the media’s attention to Joe the Plumber they discover inconsistencies in McCain and Republican statements.

    So the right wingers want the media to report what they say, not check into anything further, and then when they do, the media gets criticized for bias. Or if that fails, blame it on Obama.

    While I’m at it, this whole idea that the media is biased because they don’t just stick to what conservatives want them to report is rediculous. If anything the media is right-wing biased, with all the right wing talk shows and cable news shows with an obvious right wing slant.

    Obama will be the worst president in the history of this country. IF he’s elected he will be a one term wonder, and he’ll cause the Dems to lose all but the most liberal of districts. His programs will lead to only three things:

    Higher prices
    Higher unemployment
    Higher interest rates

    In response to those three things the US will also be the lucky (to hear the liberal morons tell it) recipient of Higher crime rates, higher homelessness rates, higher poverty rates, and in all probability one or more major terrorist attacks. These are not negotiable, or avoidable if Obama and the Democrats get their way in Congress. Seeing as they also intend to eliminate the right of the people to own firearms for self defense, expect to find yourself helpless against the thugs who seek to do you harm, if for no other reason than to steal what you have in order to feed the families they used to be able to feed back when they had jobs. Liberals have got to be the most historically ignorant of history people of all time. They tried this idiocy under Jimma Carta. And we all know how well that worked out.

    There are a few differences between now and the late 70s though.

    The head of the “Students” who seized the US embassy in Tehran is now president of the country of IRAN. So he now has the resources to actually be able to do more than terrorize a few dozen embassy staffers.

    We now have over 12 million illegal aliens in this country who are willing to work for subpar wages which has and will cost Americans what few jobs will be available. Illegal aliens who have rioted in their own country when food prices rose, and are over twice as likely to be involved in violent felonies as citizens or legal residents of the US.

    We now have over 300 million people versus the 200 million during the Carta administration meaning that when unemployment hits 8% like it did before the Reagan tax cuts went into effect, that will mean MILLIONS more people out of work than during the Carta debacle of a presidency.

    We are currently at war, so cutting the military budget as Carta did and Obama has stated he intends to do will put thousands of US soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines’ lives at risk.

    We have a generation of adults who have never dealt with shortages of any sort. My parents had been through the great Depression, they knew how to squeeze every penny until Abe Lincoln squealed. How many of the current generation know how to do the same? The current generation of adults who support Obama is the rudest, self centered bunch of ill educated rubes in the history of this country. How else do you describe the t-shirts referring to Governor Palin with obscene comments on them? They have NO respect for anyone but themselves. Look at how a group of these hooligans assaulted an 80+ yr old delegate to the Republican convention this past summer. Is there anyone here who was raised to believe THAT kind of behavior is acceptable? Probably a good thing I wasn’t there. Had I seen the little twit assault the older gentleman, I’d have felt compelled to teach him and his companions a few manners. Even if that lesson included kicking them into nothing more than piles of blood, bruised flesh and broken bones.

    Rarely, of course is anyone an expert led by honesty. All statistics are spinnable. Spin is finally what 99% of Americans will believe, then go out dutifully and quote, misquote.

    Someone up up, the rocket scientist who posted all caps. They are sure that American’s are stupid if they vote for Obama.
    This is then backed by extraordinary facts.

    Another genius heard shit going around (probably talk radio, Christian right-wing dominated slush, where the majority of Americans now get their news from pundits and lame brains – masters of spin and statistics) that experts classified Obama’s body language as Hitleresque. So, obviously this black guy will lead the country towards fascism.

    Not.

    He may be funded by big money, like McCain, although Obama sez he isn’t – hell, wall Street has purchased the Senate and the House, pretty much lock stock and barrel. So there’s very little difference in the long run between basics bread and butter – both McCain as well as Obama.

    At least, there is enough hard facts to indicate this country is on its way to ruin as quick or quicker than everywhere else other than China and Russia – who are not hampered by pesky ethical issues.

    But the facts. Plain and simple, this current administration has taken the first step towards fascism with the rape and pillage of the Constitution. Plenty of fact to prove there have been more ammendments, changes and dissapearances of citizen rights since Jr. got into the White House. I don’t her anyone crying about this. No, you’re all crying about Joe and about Obama being a terrorist and every other concievable third grade nahnahnahna.

    You could save your tears for the constitution.
    You could save your tears for this administration propelling, for the first time, through this rotten bailout, the US into it’s first taste of, Socialism. Yes, that’s right. That’s what it’s called when the governemtn begins to own the banks, duh.

    maybe you should go to the library and start reading some history books.
    maybe you should start to think for yourselves instead of listening to Rush Limbaugh. Because, guess what. He’s no freakin’ genius. He’s clever, got it? Just so. Nothing else.     And why? Why will shit be going wrong. Because Americans were too stupid to actually learn real facts. Instead, they wanted to listen to Shaun Hannity – another brilliant political scientist. Another military wanna be. Another sunshine patriot.
