Okay, it’s one thing to take your campaign website, transfer it to a dot-gov domain, and invent an “Office of the President-Elect” out of whole cloth.
But now we’ve got Sen. Obama standing in front of a podium, in front of the world, for his first transitional press conference with an official-looking sign that reads “Office of the President-Elect.” Is that the official seal of the U.S. on the sign? Do they have authority to use it? What other make-believe offices are they going to invent between now and Inauguration Day? I can’t ever recall in my lifetime any mention of such an office. Can you?

Obama does not have an answer to the economic problems facing America. It was interesting to watch him without a tele-prompter. The “ahhs” and the “uhhs” were almost too much to watch. He did not answer questions directly and of course, he was afraid of answering any questions posed by FOX News.

The Governor who thought increasing taxes on everyone and everything (haircuts, shoe shines, skiing, carpet cleaning, funerals, fortune telling AND dating)would actually stimulate a state econumy that was struggling? What is on her resume now? Increasing job losses, increasing polulation decline, second highest state unemployment rate behind Rhode Island, almost two full points above the national average. Contrary to false claims, hose jobs weren’t all lost overseas to China and other countries. US Automakers lack of vision and competitiveness aside, Toyota and VW opened plants (created US jobs)under her watch; they just decided that Mississippi and Tennessee were far more hospitable states to open their businesses.
As Biden said during the campaign, it’s all about the “three-letter word” J-O-B-S, jobs. And Jenny sure knows plenty about that Barack… she knows exactly how to continue to lose them. Another great choice for an advisor.

How can an economy be built from the bottom up…when there’s no money to be had at the bottom? Money for government programs that help the poor comes from the people who have money and it works its way down.

Lisa, building from the bottom does not mean the house will be built in 3 days or 3 months. Trickle down does not work. Yes, as an independent, I voted for Obama and I listened and read about him and the alternative. I was quite clear in my decision and proud of the outcome. I simply do not understand the immediate attacks and would say the same thing if things had turned out differently. I don’t think Pam said she was unwilling to give him a chance. This post is about his press conference. She, among many others (including myself) do not agree with looking to Gov. Granholm for sound economic advice – - Granholm has the state of Michigan in an economic mess! This move doesn’t instill a whole lot of confidence for those of us paying attention. She’s another politician who was surprised when high tax rates motivated businesses to move OUT of her state, leaving high unemployment rates that hover 2 points above the nations average.
See – companies with money create jobs. Those jobs stimulate the ecnomony by putting money in the pockets of those who need it, who then take that money and put it back into their local economy. When you increase taxes so much – - businesses stop spending, cut back, lay off and stop growing and, worst case – they pick up their jobs and move to an area where taxes aren’t such a burden for them, and they’ll stimulate the economy elsewhere.
Trickle. Down.
Higher taxes = slower growth.
Over the past year U.S. personal income increased by 6.3 percent. In some states income grew faster. In others, it grew slower. Michigan has the dubious distinction of having the worst economic performance of all 50 states.
It is the Governor of the state of Michigan who Obama chose to advise him on economic policy. It fits with his tax plan – and its why I didn’t vote for him.

Bravo, Lisa! As a lifelong MICHIGAN resident, I can attest to the fact that “Granwhore” has run this state into the ground and, with poise and grace, twisted with a high-heeled shoe, then taxed us for the privilege – retroactively, no less.

It is my wholehearted belief that Obama supporters have not taken a peek(or refuse to) behind the curtain of ‘hope and change’. How ANYONE can think that Gov. Granholm is a good choice as an economic adviser is simply beyond me. And if they do – - then they are either in denial, or just don’t know the facts behind her service to her state and, ultimately, to her country.
Time, unfortunately, will tell the tale and, yes – I am anticipating the worst. If Obama’s administration proves me wrong, I’ll be the first one to say it and the first one to rejoice about it.
