Welcome to Obama 3.0 on Jerusalem: Israel Must Withdrawl To Pre-1967 Borders..Stay Tuned For The Retraction…

The Times of London reports today:

Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close to America’s president-elect.

Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party.

The proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.

On a visit to the Middle East last July, the president-elect said privately it would be “crazy” for Israel to refuse a deal that could “give them peace with the Muslim world”, according to a senior Obama adviser.

Crazy?  What I find crazy is that it was only this past June that Obama was saying:

Facing criticism from Palestinians, Sen. Barack Obama acknowledged today that the status of Jerusalem will need to be negotiated in future peace talks, amending a statement earlier in the week that Jerusalem “must remain undivided.”

Obama, during a speech Wednesday to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-israel lobbying group, had called for Jerusalem to become the site of the U.S. embassy, a frequent pledge for U.S. presidential candidates. (It is now in Tel Aviv.) But his statement that Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel drew a swift rebuke from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Ed:

Obama reportedly told Mahmoud Abbas that “Israel would be crazy” not to accept the plan.  He concluded that the Saudi plan would give Israel peace with the entire Muslim world.  Really?  It might make it palatable for some states like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to start diplomatic relations with Israel, and perhaps even Syria if they get back the Golan Heights.  But who believes that Iran, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, and the proxy armies of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad will suddenly discover brotherly love with such a settlement?  They want Israel wiped off the map, literally in Iran’s case, and the Israelis driven into the Mediterranean.

What I’m about to say will probably not go over too welland I firmly believe Israel shouldn’t give up a thing. Rather the muslim world should be made to learn tolerance and respect.  That being said, I hope Obama goes all out to hurt Israel.  It just might prove once and for all his anti semitism and the influence his muslim roots have.

The thing I am trying to figure out is Obama’s choice of Rahm Emanuael for CoS. Isn’t Emanual a Zionist, or arguably one? How can that sit well with Obama’s Muslim base?

I’ve given that some thought as well Robert.  I tend to believe the muslims who support him understand the dynamics of what he has to do, how he has to make the country believe in him and trust.  He’s not even in office yet and is walking a fine line.  I guess it doesn’t help when the islamic terrorists issue mandates but for the most part I think the arab world is just waiting for him to take office before they start expecting their due.  Rahm is just one jewish man and I think they have an attitude of acceptance because of that understanding.

This will just cause more bloodshed in the middle east.  Israel has been attacked countless times and Obama want them to give the land that they gained back the the most in-humain people who would kill us westerners if they had the chance.  The next time someone attacks Israel the world should just let Israel hit them with everything that they got.

Zionism is a sickening, insane religious ideology in which many Jews and some radical Christians (like G W Bush) believe. I serve only one master and that is Jesus Christ. As far as Obama’s Muslim base, I guess all they can do is hope, like the rest of us.
