You don’t need to explain,I thought it funny you called me by my dad’s name.Like I said,I don’t think we agree on much but I enjoy reading most of the stuff on here. I really do try to hear all the sides but there are so many sides to so many issues.Sometimes it makes me feel older than I am which is silly considering how old I am.Anyway,you keep doing what you’re doing how you are doing it.We’re all grown ups most of the time. LOL

I have been having a rough patch with the MS...I typed something back to you yesterday and i happened to read it right after i posted it..It looked like I downed half a bottle of scotch and started typing..I looked at all the incorrect letters and they were nowhere near the key I needed! OY! I agree with what you said Joe..Blogs can bring out the best and worst in people..We do this to discuss what is happening in our country, we do this because we have a press that won’t bring both sides to the table. The media seems to think they can still tell us what the story will be..It just isn’t so…My local paper in MI ran headlines yesterday making it sound as if the auto bailout talks are sooooo close!

Our ‘leaders’ are the biggest part of the problem..they really don’t feel they work for us and that is our fault.

The tone does need to change, and I bring these two quotes up, because they are a problem for both sides of the aisle, yet only one person said both:

“I hate him”- referring to President Bush
“I never could stand John McCain”

The party doesn’t matter, what matter is that it was said and that is where our politcs has fallen to.

Okay,I get it now.I was worried there (not really) my faith was being mis-interpreted.I was told that same thing once by a fundamentalist Baptist preacher.That was so long ago. I told him he needed to study some more,he said I was going to hell.That kind of ended the conversation. I don’t think we are on the same side on a lot of politics but I think I would enjoy sitting down with you and conversing.I honestly think if more people would do that,maybe we could tone it down to a roar and try to solve the many problems this country has.I don’t know if that’s possible,it seems more impossible as time passes but if we don’t,I fear the worst.That is my greatest fear,we stop talking to each other,go to our corners and take turns savaging one another.Well,this turned into a long-winded post. I still believe this is the greatest country in the world and I pray that it will remain so.Peace to you and yours.

This kid was 17 and his parents were having kittens that he was dating a catholic..It rose to the occasion of having his Pastor sit him down and give him the "talk"..Things won't work out because of the mixing of religions...blah blah blah and that's how we found out we were not Christian She couldn't dump him fast enough... She is now dating another Dutch CR and it is somewhat better(he really is a nice guy that treats her well)..His parents adore her, but they asked that she not let the grandparents in on their little secret -" onclick="appendTextToComment(':)>-')" src="../../../../smilies/yahoo_peace.gif" alt=":)>-" width="22" height="18" /> I guess somewhere along the way, Catholicism was erased from the umbrella of Christianity?

No, the burden is not on the believers AKD, but I do agree that the discussion should be had without all the stupidity coming in.. I think we both agree that it isn't my place to judge your religious beliefs or non beliefs. I think I told you this before..I found out from a neice's boyfriend (Christian Reformed) that Catholics aren't Christians

If Christians are willing to engage in rational argument about the existence of God, the burden is on them to demonstrate his existence without resorting to:
1) Circular arguments (”It’s true because the bible says so…”).

2) Question begging (”Who do you think created the universe?…”).

3) Threats (”Of course you’re going to hell for questioning God’s existence…”)

4) Least plausible hypothesis (”My cousin had cancer and she got better. God must have healed her…”)

5) Appeal to complexity (”No one really understands the universe. God must have created it.”)

6) Pious fraud (”God must exist so people behave”).

7) Argument from authority (”I read somewhere that Socrates believed in God. Socrates is smarter than you!…”)

etc., etc., etc. …
