ThIs was Saturday:

Noting that Iraq had received assurances that President-elect Barack Obama would honor the agreement, al-Dabbagh said each side would have the right to repeal it after giving a year’s notice.

This was Sunday:

Obama – who yesterday stepped down from the Senate to prepare to take office on Jan. 20 – said he intends to “stick to [the] commitment” he made to begin removing US troops from Iraq.

“As soon as I take office, I will call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, my national-security apparatus, and we will start executing a plan that draws down our troops,” Obama said.

Calling all terrorists.  Obama is giving you exactly what you wanted.

Gee, liberals say GWB ruined our reputation int he world.  Okay, so when we abandon Iraq for the second time and Iraqi’s are slaughtered, then what?  Will the world rejoice because we finally left Iraq?  I’m sure alqueda will.  But then again, Obama is a muslim.  What can one expect.

This reminds me so much of the end of the Vietnam War and the fall of Saigon.  So many fought so hard to drive the NVA out and destroy the VC infrastructure. President Nixon managed the war very well, as good as anyone could. We left by treaty; the North agreed to stop their hostilities. We pulled out, and the Communists regrouped and resumed the attack, reneging on their agreement. Congress (led by the Democrites) cut off support for the South and in less than 3 years after our withdrawal saigon fell, enabling the Communist victory and rendering meaningless all that had been fought so hard for.

Today Al Qaeda is down to their last position in Mosul, Iraq. They are nearly finished, as were the Communists in South Vietnam. I sure hope we don’t see a replay of the stupidity that turned our Vietnam military victory into instead a Communist victory.

Unfortunately Robert I think this is going to be a case where history repeats itself.  Worse, I believe Israel is in critical danger.  Once the idiot muslim meets with ahmadinajad they will be so emboldened.

The really sad part about it is that they will inevitably blame Bush.

I so hope not. America has already done a great disservice, really a slap in the face of our military by electing a CIC who is not fit to command them. The ultimate insult, the ultimate disgrace, would be to piss away their hard-won gains, as was done to the Vietnam vets.

i wonder how our troops are feeling about the election/? I wonder how many will not re-up now, how many officers will resign?

I resigned my commission in 1998 out of disgust for Klinton. I felt I could not serve a degenerate CIC who also gave advanced ICBM guidance technology to the Red Chinese, by personal order overruling the State Dept. Klinton was not fit to be CIC for a number of reasons, not the least of which was he “loathed the military”.

Sorry Robert.  I’m just not optimistic.  I heard but can’t find confirmation that the only spending he was going to cut was military – 25%.  He thinks a civilian force would work better.  Scary if you ask me.

As for the rest.  I have so much respect for our guys and gals who work to protect us.  I’m sorry you felt the need to resign but I understand exactly how you feel.

I do think this is a one term president.  Once the novelty wears off and he has to get to work he will fail miserably.  The question becomes how much damage will have been done.
