In 1985 I bought a (new) GM product; it didn’t make it off the lot — the clutch died with 29 miles on the odometer. I took my money down the street to the Nissan dealer and bought (new) an ‘86 Sentra. Last summer I replaced the clutch — it hadn’t died yet, but close — at 429,000 miles. Still the original engine, still 40+ mpg. Yes, Nissan products can be both durable and economical.
