Benediction at Obama 's inauguration, Rev. Joseph Lowery: 'Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. 1. Please refrain from calling him president HE IS A DICATATOR HE IS A TYRANT HE IS A DESPOT HE IS WILL NEVER BE MY PRESIDENT

  2. For better or worse, as of today, he is our POTUS and we better hope and pray that he succeeds..

  3. Hi Pam…I have lived among the haters for so long that I remain a cynic, albeit a much nicer one (at least I try).  Since the transition you don’t hear the same retreat and surrender rhetoric of his campaign and that does seem promising.

Still, I’m a holdout – not so eager to get on the bandwagon – but will be watching with an open mind to make sure he doesn’t get us all killed.  I guess I will just have to actually see what he does and how he handles things.  One thing I do not want to see is the democratic leadership collectively making the decisions only the comander in chief should be making.

  4. Yeah, Obama is just great for the stock market. What confidence the market has in his leadership and vast demonstrated skills! LOL!

  5. When I heard that bo was following Lincoln’s  campaign trail to the White House, the first thing I asked my husband was “Do you suppose he’ll be stopping off at Ford’s Theatre to catch a play?” Okay I know that’s really bad, sorry! and I’m really glad he didn’t and everything went off yesterday without a bang (literally); because with this administration it looks like it’s going to be worse than it was during the clinton era for our Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms. There seems to be too many anti-gunners in high places.

  6. That was funny TammyC  – I wouldn’t worry about your right to bear arms.  I believe that would be way too divisive and the left won’t risk the political cost.

  7. OMG Tammy, that is deliciously awful! Nice one!

  8. :”>  Thanks guys, my husband gets tickled by, what he calls my “little mean streak” hehehe.

And very cool news, I have Justice Antonin Scalia’s autograph on my August 2008 issue of America’s 1st Freedom as well as the D.C. vs. Heller Syllabus :d

  9. Tammy welcome to the warped sense of humor club! (I am a Charter Member)

  10. Stick around Tammy…this place gets very lively at times with alot of good points brought forth.  Other blogs can very often be cruel and indeed we have a few nuts that come to visit periodically (witness Democratic Activist) but for the most part this is a place with cordial discussions and debate.

I don’t know if you came by during the last few weeks of the campaign but it appeared as though the NObama team were furiously working the ‘right wing blogs’ in an effort to disseminate bad information.  Poor Pam and Robert had a hard time keeping up – they did a great job.

  11. President Obama.

    Finally.

Working to close Gitmo…it’s a great start!

  12. He can close GITMO, but another one opens up..it is a symbolic move..

  13. If that makes you feel any better, than by all means believe that.

Truth is, a new chapter has begun in the “war on terror”…out with the old, in with the new.

“President Barack Obama began overhauling U.S. treatment of terror suspects Thursday, signing orders to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center, shut down secret overseas CIA prisons, review military war crimes trials and ban the harshest interrogation methods.”

  14. Uh huh..well, like I said, it is symbolic plain and simple..even Obama isn’t that stupid…Let’s see what you have to say come May.

  15. The Gov’t spent million$ on facilities at Gitmo. Now they will go to waste, all to placate the ACLU and their ilk.

    Makes zero sense.

  16. Pam, Robert and BonBon Thanks. I think you guys are great and I am very happy that I’ve found like minded people. I love to read what is posted here, I don’t have to say much you guys have it covered :)

  17. sfl, “working to close gitmo….a great start” Really??? Looking for a couple of roommates that you can house, feed and take resposibility for? Bet your family, friends and neighbors would say that’s your shining moment in life. Make your momma proud, yeah!

Okay now for the real reason I’m posting. “The War on Terror”
The Nuge in his latest book Ted, White and Blue says something like this, when good fails to wage war against evil, evil thrives, freedom dies, and innocents are slaughtered. Period. The absence of truism has allowed a society of  people in denial to flourish, where the “give peace a chance” fantasty has does nothing but encouraged tyrants and dictators to run amok.

sfl, if you and your other liberal friends “feel” any other way then the only thing I can say is, you have been up in that purple kool-aid too long!

  18. Hi Tammy…SFL is one of our favorite libbies here on RV.  He is always friendly which is the opposite of many liberal bloggers to be sure.  Having said that he will very often skirt the issue but that in itself is enlightening.  Most people don’t stop to ask the questions that matter the most – the ones of consequence for actions taken.  Where are we going to put the terrorists after we release them?  That doesn’t matter to a liberal – it really doesn’t.  Ideology first and hope for the best seems to be their mantra.

On the kool aid front, I thought of the kool aid they drank as being red. :)

  19. :-?    you could be right about that  ;)

  20. I think Nancy Pelosi could house some Gitmo “detainees” at her winery  in Sonoma. Maybe they can help harvest the grapes; cut down some of her labor costs even more. The Feds pay her for their housing, she uses them as virtual slaves…hey, there’s an idea…

  21. See, there’s just one more reason to love it here. Ideas being put out there to be discussed, problem solving, maybe even teaching terrorists a new trade with the added benefit of possibly saving $$$ for the hard working tax payers of the U.S., I like it.

  22. You’re right, Tammy! And if people want to know how to solve the Nation’s problems, they should consult with the sages here on RV! Instead they elect mentally ill people, corrupt degenerates, and nitwits to office that mostly seem to just make things worse.

Seriously, though, there is more collective wisdome here on RV than a Capitol building full of politicians.
