The Republican Chairman: Mr. Michael Steele

By: Pam On: Jan/31/09 - 4 Comments

steeleAll of you know my feelings on this man!  I just could not be happier about this.

(Let the racist “progressive” photoshops begin!)

Steele, an attorney, is a conservative, but he was considered the most moderate of the five candidates running.

He was also considered an outsider because he’s not a member of the Republican National Committee. But the 168-member RNC clearly signaled it wanted a change after eight years of Bush largely dictating its every move as the party’s standard-bearer.

Steele became the first black candidate elected to statewide office in Maryland in 2002, and he made an unsuccessful Senate run in 2006. The former chairman of the Maryland Republican Party currently serves as chairman of GOPAC, an organization that recruits and trains Republican political candidates, and in that role he has been a frequent presence on the talk show circuit.

The more I listen to this man the more I like him.  I think you are wrong Fred.  He was not picked because of race but because he is a qualified, intelligent, value driven conservative.  Yes, he’s black but so what?  Aside from a small minority of creeps in this country I have long since felt we were not a racist nation.  In the small town I grew up in in the 1960’s I had a 4th grade teacher who was black.  She was the best teacher in the county and in time she became the superintendent.  We were taught respect, not disrespect.  I have no doubt that same lesson was taught nationwide.

My only regret is that Maryland didn’t vote him as Senator in the last election.  He would have fought hard for our state which has been dominated by one party rule for more than 40 years.  The RNC is lucky to have this man.

Election 2012 – Michael Steele/Sarah Palin – what a ticket that would be.
