As The Unions Crumble Obama Proclaims: “We need to level the playing field for workers and the unions that represent their interests,”

Really

President Barack Obama said on Tuesday the Bush administration had tried to undermine organized labor and he assured U.S. labor leaders they would always have a “place at the table” under his presidency. (Jesus had a place at the table for his followers and threw them a supper party at the end)

“We need to level the playing field for workers and the unions that represent their interests,” Obama said in prepared remarks for a video address to the executive board of the AFL-CIO, the largest U.S. labor federation, meeting in Miami.

Obama, who won strong backing from trade unions in his Democratic presidential campaign, said there could not be a strong middle class, the focus of his economic recovery plan, without a strong labor movement.

Two out of three domestic automakers are into us to the tune of $17.4 billion in federal loans, just to stay afloat.  GM and Chrysler want an additional $21.6 billion in loans as part of turnaround plans submitted to the government.

The idiot also said Wall Street has been hammered so hard that “buying stocks is a potentially good deal,”.   I guess he should have left it at that and not let the tax cheat speak:

Geithner said the budget reflects what Obama views as “a deep moral imperative to make our society more just. But it’s very good economic policy, too. It will mean there is again a fairer, more equitably shared tax burden on the vast majority of Americans.”

Higher taxes for affluent Americans would not come until 2011 once “we are safely into recovery,” Geithner said.

But some lawmakers challenged the administration’s predictions for such a speedy recovery.

The budget forecasts that the economy, as measured by the gross domestic product, would shrink by just 1.2 percent this year and then snap back and grow by a solid 3.2 percent in 2010, followed by several years over 4 percent.

That’s more optimistic than most private forecasts, and comes despite a new government report showing the economy contracted by 6.2 percent in late 2008, far more than the 3.2 percent drop first reported.

“It looks like somebody’s cooking the books,” Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, told Geithner.

I guess it is no wonder that “We’re Sorry” — Obama voters express their regrets

Obama tells unions that Card Check will pass this year

After six weeks of market crashes, it’s hard to see how Obama could foul things up any further — but this would do it.  Passing Card Check at this time, with its bypass of the secret ballot and the force of government arbitration behind labor disputes, would send the few capital venture groups screaming out of the marketplace.  With assets losing value by the minute and consumer spending at a standstill, the last thing the private sector needs is a hike in labor costs, which is exactly what the EFCA would provide, even disregarding its abuse of American workers.

Ed has some good reference posts on Card Check:

No, you gotta go to your Hate Media sources, like Conservative talk radio, to get any real news, useful analysis, or good information.
