Obama’s children attend a private school that accepts vouchers. These vouchers are a lifeline for the children that do not have the means to pay the tuition, and are stuck in a school system where fewer than half of the students are proficient in reading or math. These kids are about to have that lifeline yanked away from them thanks to Senator Dick Durbin:
The “Durbin language” mandates that the scholarship program ends after the next school year unless Congress reauthorizes it and the District of Columbia approves. This allows opponents to kill the program simply by doing nothing – just the sort of sneaky maneuver that’s so handy when you don’t want inner-city moms and dads to catch on that you are cutting one of their lifelines…….
……This double standard is largely unchallenged by either the teachers unions or the press. For the unions, it’s a fairly coldblooded calculation: They’re willing to look the other way at lawmakers who chose private or parochial schools for their own kids – so long as these lawmakers help keep the union grip on the public schools intact, and an escape hatch like vouchers bolted.
God forbid a poor person tries to get an education!

Absolutely correct. My first thought when I read the title was that yet another form of discrimination is in play. The school the girls attend is a very upscale school that alot of the power players of DC’s children attend. I’m not surprised that they would move to push out the poorer classs, It was also something the Bush administration along with his Republican congress achieved in his first term of office so now must be bad. Another democite power play.
