Pentagon balked on gay partner travel; Pelosi intervened

No, it wasn’t a matter of don’t ask don’t tell, it was a matter of the rules.

Under House guidelines, members of Congress may take their spouses with them on military flights if there is room for them and when it is “necessary for protocol purposes.”

I love how Nancy worded it though:

“It’s a matter of fairness that spouses should be allowed to go, and she is Ms. Baldwin’s spouse,” said Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly. He said that Baldwin had raised the exclusion with a colleague, who mentioned it to Pelosi. The lawmakers visited France, the Czech Republic and Poland last month.

NY Doesn’t Recognize Gay Marriages, But One Judge Sees Nothing Wrong With Gay Divorce

Two lesbians, married in Canada, living together in New York, want to divorce. What’s the problem? New York does not recognize gay marriage. The solution? Find yourself an activist judge:

“Donna M.” had argued her marriage to “Beth R.” should be declared void because New York doesn’t allow gay nuptials, but Drager disagreed.

“[T]his court’s decision [is] that out-of-state same-sex marriages are properly recognized under our law,” and therefore Beth R. can proceed with her divorce and custody action against mother of two Donna M., the ruling says.

Drager noted that there are only two exceptions where New York does not recognize an out-of-state marriage - if it is specifically named by the Legislature as prohibited or is “abhorrent to New York public policy.”

The Legislature hasn’t specifically outlawed out-of-state same-sex marriages, and “the abhorrence exception is so narrow that it has been applied only to marriages involving polygamy or incest,” the judge wrote.

It’s Christmas Eve And I Have Much To Be Thankful For

I can not believe that it is Christmas 2007. As I look back on this year, I have much to be thankful for.

As much as I miss my Mother and wish that she could be with us this Christmas, I am thankful that she is finally at peace. Her struggle was long and painful, but never a complaint. I wish her everlasting peace. I am thankful for our friends and family that got us through her death. We asked that no flowers be sent, please find it in your heart to make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The flowers overfilled the funeral home, church and my father’s house, yet the donations far exceeded their costs. I am thankful that our Mother taught us the importance of “Finding cures. Saving children”, and I am thankful that her family and friends remembered this.

Apple Computer reported today that it has developed computer chips that can store and play music inside women’s breasts.

The i-boob is considered to be a major breakthrough because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

Thanks to Apple, everyone is now happy.

Oh look, Allahpundit is pushing the Gphone…he should look at this version.

From The Drudge Report:

The DRUDGE REPORT has optained internal documents from the investigation of THE NEW REPUBLIC’S “Baghdad Diarist”, Scott Thomas Beauchamp, an Army private turned war correspondent who reported tales of military malfeasance from the Iraq War front.

The documents appear to expose that once the veracity of Beauchamp’s diaries were called into question, and an Army investigation ensued, THE NEW REPUBLIC has failed to publicly account for publishing slanderous falsehoods about the U.S. military in a time of war.

San Frans Drug Addict Plan: Give Them A Room To Shoot Up In

October 19, 2007 10:28 AM
Posted By:Pam
Filed in: Gay Marriage

Not just any room, no sir, this one has nurses supervising them! The reasoning behind it is to cut down on the amount of deaths from overdoses in the city. The statistics on those are staggering; Drug overdoses represented about one of every seven emergency calls handled by city paramedics between July 2006 and July 2007, according to San Francisco Fire Department Capt. Niels Tangherlini. At the same time, the number of deaths linked to overdoses has declined from a high of about 160 in 1995 to 40 in 2004, he said. So you can see why they would need such a facility! It is to be patterned after Vancouver’s InSite program. I can see why:

Thomas Kerr, a University of British Columbia researcher who has studied the program, said that while 800 overdoses have occurred on the premises, none resulted in death because of the medical supervision provided at InSite. His research also has shown an increase in addicts seeking drug treatment and a decrease in abandoned syringes, needle-sharing, drug-related crime and other problems since the clinic opened, he said.

Rosie O’Drama Used To Break Her Own Bones For Attention? Get Outta Here!

September 17, 2007 8:18 PM

Filed in: Gay Marriage, Eye on the Left, Follywood, National News

That Rosie’s positively crazy and bitter, very very bitter!

Ranting Rosie O’Donnell is full of rage, has a profound distrust of men, craves pub lic adoration, shows signs of post-traumatic stress disorder and dishes out her anger mostly to women because of deep-seated abandonment issues over her mother’s death, said a psychiatrist after reading her latest memoir, “Celebrity Detox.”

Hitting the shelves Oct. 2, the book is a Freudian frolic down memory lane that lays bare O’Donnell’s man-hating and mummy-hungry adult ways, while revealing clues to a secret trauma from her troubled Long Island childhood, two shrinks say.

O’Donnell bashes longtime nemesis Donald Trump in her book, calling him a “wind-up toy with Tourette’s,” full of “mechanical meanness,” and berates Barbara Walters for tossing aside women for “the rich guys’ club.”

ALERT: PETRAEUS TO RECOMMEND TROOP REDUCTION

That is, according to ABC News, that leads the piece with: “The top military general in Iraq hinted to ABC’s Martha Raddatz that next week’s much-anticipated report on the status of the troop surge in Iraq would include a recommendation for troop reduction in March, if not sooner, to avoid a strain on the Army.”

and btw,

A military official told ABC News that a small drawdown could begin as soon as December, with further reductions every 45 days until the troop numbers are once again down to 130,000 from the current 164,000 troops.

 Bon Bon Goes To Washington

Am late in getting this up..Bon Bon promised she would go to Washington and report back to us on her big adventure…It may appear to have been a political bust, but it sounded like a blast!

Good Morning to you Peejz!!

I wanted to give you a summary of my day yesterday.  While I didn’t
accomplish what I set out to do I did learn some things.

Because they were doing work on the subway tracks what should have been
a 40 minute ride turned into more than an hour.  Then, after trekking
up the hill to the Capitol they wouldn’t let me in.  I had to go down to
the tour group and wait in line.  It’s free but they only allow 30
people in at a time and my turn was 1 1/2 hours after I arrived.  Once I
got in I was told I had to have a pass from my representative before I
was allowed into the galley to watch the session.

 Thank You

A guy walks into the local welfare office, marches straight up to the counter and says, “Hi… You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I’d really rather have a job. “The social worker behind the counter says, your timing is excellent.
We  just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful nymphomaniac daughter. You’ll have to  drive around in his Mercedes, but he’ll supply all of your clothes and  because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You’ll be expected to  escort her on her overseas vacation trips and will have to satisfy all  her sexual urges. You’ll be provided a two-bedroom apartment above the garage. The starting salary is $200,000 a year. “The guy, wide-eyed, says, “You’re bull shittin’me!” The social worker says, “Yeah, well… you started it.
